Nils Kristoffersen purchased this house in 2011
White beaches, warm waters and cobblestone streets all factored into the desire to be a part of San Pancho. Add in temperate weather, fantastic local cuisine and a friendly atmosphere, and the Kristoffersens couldn't be happier to own Vista Celeste.
This villa has been recently remodeled or is very new. We slept in several of the bedrooms and the beds were new and firm but comfortable. We used the laundry room often. The location and views were just exceptional. We watched humpback whales from the deck. I did some shore fishing from the beach and bluffs. We could hear the surf which was a real treat for us Kansans. The fresh fish, shrimp, vegetables and fruit were exceptional. We used the juicer often, and cooked in the outdoor kitchen. In the 20 days we stayed, we tried nearly every restaurant in town. They are all unique and featured a wide variety of menus. There is a beautiful 9 hole golf course a block away. We saw a number of iguanas and many rare birds. There is a world class birding sanctuary along the lagoon on the south end of the village. Bring binoculars. The heated pool was where we spent much of our free time. Day trips included Sayulita & Punta Mita to the south & Rincon de Guayabitos & Los Ayala to the north. With the exchange rate at 23 peso's per $ everything was very reasonable. Although we had a rental car, we walked a lot with everything so close. Don't oversize your rental car as the streets are narrow and a small car just works better and can be parked behind the gate if you choose. The town beach plaza was a 10 min walk down the beach. In case of an illness there is a clinic/hospital that is adequate and modern. We never felt in danger or even in the minority although we certainly were. The people of San Pancho were just very accomodating and helpful.
We loved the little town of San Pancho. Lots of great small restaurants and bars and very friendly and helpful people! Awesome fresh fish and shrimp at Calle 29 Cuba.
The owners were very helpful answering our many questions.
Abel, the handyman and jack of all trades, was amazing. Such a wonderful man!
Three comfortable bedrooms and seating for 4 at the dining room table. We ate out by the pool and BBQ most nights. Pool was cool and refreshing. Abel offered to heat it, but we wanted the cool plunge! Elders may have difficulty with the number of stairs as 2 bedrooms and 2 baths are on ground level, kitchen living room and one bedroom is up 2 flights, 1/2 bath is up another flight and roof deck it up the last flight. We loved the roof deck and spent nights playing cards up there. The only drawback is that the pool lacks privacy. It is directly on a street that once may have been a quiet path, but is now a very busy avenue. The construction right up the street did not help with its many cement tracks going and coming all day. About a 20 minute walk into town....be sure to have a flashlight since there are no streetlights! Washer and dryer were a big plus. They were large and very new.
AC worked in all rooms except the TV/front den. Internet worked great almost the whole time we're there. The entire area was out one day. Remember it's Mexico! Don't expect immediate hot water, the ability to flush toilet paper down the toilet, or fast service. Relax and enjoy the laid back life style.
We can't say enough great things about this home and location! The home is situated perfectly from town--it is a 3/4 mile walk via the road into San Pancho, or even less if you prefer to take the beach! We spent 6 days in the home and it had all the comforts we would hope and expect! The kitchen is well stocked with necessities for cooking. The home is set up so that everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom (2 bedrooms and bath on bottom floor, one bedroom/bath (ensuite) off kitchen, and top floor is covered patio. The highlight of this house is the outdoor space and pool. Complete with a gas grill and outdoor kitchen, we found ourselves not wanting to leave the house!
The only challenge we faced was the high level of traffic and construction on the road outside the house. We weren't expecting this as it seems like a fairly sleepy area, but each day brought dump trucks and consistent traffic.
Even taking the traffic into consideration, we would stay here again in a heartbeat! We are already planning our next trip back.
Vista Celeste is a great rental. Nils, the property owner, was fantastic to work with. I don't know how many emails I sent him asking questions, but a lot and he answered every single one of them very promptly. The house was incredibly clean and well maintained. The highlight of the house has to be the heated pool. The pool was kept at a very comfortable 80 degrees that allowed our 5 year old to play in it all day. We have stayed in other San Pancho rentals with pools that were not heated and were to cold to swim in. This is not the case with Vista Celeste.
As far as the house is concerned, there are two very nice master suites and another nice bedroom all with king size beds. The house was recently remodeled and remodel is excellent. The kitchen is well stocked and Abel the property manager is incredibly prompt with any questions or concerns that might pop up. Abel and the property manager Kimberly helped set up a catered dinner at the house which was fantastic.
Our only complaint which has nothing to do with Nils or the property itself is this was our fourth trip to San Pancho with our first one 7 years ago and San Pancho is becoming increasingly busy and the road that Vista Celeste is on now has traffic on it 24 hours a day. What was once a sleepy quiet road with very little traffic is now main thoroughfare. Adding to the traffic is the major construction project going on 1/4 of mile past the house which led to very large loud dump trucks going by every 15 minutes Monday through Friday. The benefit of this house is if your looking for peace and quiet you can go to the roof top deck, but the pool and lower floor you hear every single dump truck which was loud enough that you can't carry on a conversation until they are past.
I you don't mind road noise, the house is really great with beautiful ocean views and close proximity to the beach. I think we were just spoiled from previous trips to San Pancho. I knew that San Pancho would eventually be discovered, I was just a hoping it would take a little longer.
Vista Celeste has been our home for a week. We just got back and we miss the place already.
Big Rooms, perfect for family vacation or just bumming with your friends. The pool is our constant hang out place specially at night. The house comes with complete amenities including sanitized drinking water from a filtration system in the house. It's literally across the street from the beach with beautiful palm trees. San Pancho town is walking distance - even from the beach. Food in town is very inexpensive along with super fresh sea food. All around great eats and a very safe and friendly environment for tourists. You'll learn what it means to recharge once you visit this area as the environment heals you from daily hectic life.
The residence comes complete with air very good air conditioning in every room. Internal washer and drier are standard as well as pool side kitchen and BBQ. This has all the comforts of home and then some. House if fully covered with personal WIFI network along with TV - like you would really need that in this beautiful setting. Overall, I look forward to visiting the residence once again as this is one of the hidden jewels of San Pancho, Mexico.
I just spent a week at Vista Celeste and all I can think about is going back.
Where do I start??? Let’s not talk about the house just yet. The town of San Pancho may be one of Mexico's best kept secrets. The food the food the food. Every day I ventured into town to try something new. I never had a single bite I wouldn't go back and eat again. Let’s just say the Gobenator at Barracudas is the most amazing taco ever. Everyone speaks English or at least enough so I didn't make a complete fool out of myself at my poor attempt at Spanish.
The sunsets for me were life changing. I felt for the first time in many years a sense of relief. The anxiety of life just melted away. The beaches were clean, quiet and less than a block away from home (Vista Celeste).
Let's talk about the house... I spent a vast majority of my time in the pool with a beer. The house itself is beautiful, clean, spacious and very comfortable.
The AC will please even the snobbiest of AC snobs, the grill is large enough for a small gathering and the Wi-Fi reaches out to the pool so you can stream music until you run your battery dead. The beds were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms (3 ½) were all clean with good water pressure.
You really need to keep in mind you are on vacation. If you can avoid it leave that work at home and detach.
To sum this up; Great location, great owners, beautiful house and I always felt safe.
Just 25 miles North of Puerto Vallarta, Vista Celeste lies in the small town of San Francisco (affectionately called San Pancho by the locals). Across the street from the beach, and adjacent to a resort with restaurants and countless activities, Vista Celeste offers something for everyone. Whether it’s snorkeling the pristine waters or an evening spent sampling the exquisite local cuisine, a vacation in San Pancho can be truly memorable.
