Welcome to Casa de Suenos , your private seaside Mayan retreat. Located just 6 miles north of the fishing village of Xcalak, and less than 12 miles from the Belize border, Casa de Suenos is the perfect destination for travelers looking for a less traveled route to paradise. Casa de Suenos Xcalak is a world class destination for fishing, snorkeling, diving, and eco-touring. We have an incredible reef system right in front of our villa, and the white sand beaches stretch for miles in either direction. The seclusion and unpopulated feel of Casa de Suenos add to its allure and charm, and your only company on the beach at times will be egrets, ospreys, blue crabs, pelicans, and other local wildlife. Casa de Suenos is a quiet, laid back, beach side destination, a perfect place to call your second home.

Access world class diving and fishing right at your door, and visit the many surrounding Mayan ruins within a short drive while staying at Casa de Suenos. Come unwind and relax in an uncrowded, unspoiled Mexican paradise.

Please contact us with your date request and number of travelers in your party, we are always happy to work with you to provide an affordable and comfortable vacation retreat. Looking forward to seeing you in Paradise.

About Sarah Petrarca

Free coconuts at Casa de Suenos!

Sarah Petrarca purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Sarah Petrarca chose Quintana Roo

The seclusion and natural beauty is the main reason, but the overall mexican lifestyle is pretty attractive too.....nothing to do but relax and unwind. Very appealing to the DIY crowd with fully equipped kitchens and miles of untouched shoreline to explore, snorkel, or fish.

What makes this apartment unique

Off the beaten path, very unspoiled and un-crowded, best part is you don't have to spend much once you are here. More like your second home than a vacation room you rented, come taste the Mexican warmth and hospitality in an unparalleled tropical setting in the un-crowded north end of Xcalak. The beaches are the firmest and nicest on the coast, and the many snorkeling opportunities right from the beach is world class and best of all, free! We have an amazing kitchen and outdoor oven for gourmet cooking, or enjoy many of the fine local restaurants along the coast. We can make reservations for you at our favorite place, The Leaky Palapa in Xcalak town, for the best food, coldest margaritas, and amazing atmosphere.

A great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have rented various places on the Carribean coast of Mexico for over 10 years and Casa de Suenos is probably the best place that we have come across. We rented the upper unit and loved it. The place has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and according to my wife it has everything you need. The living area has lots of room. The beds are very comfortable. The washrooms and showers are roomy with good water pressure and hot water. There are ceiling fans in all the rooms and they are all very quiet. Excellent wifi. The place is very clean and during our stay the maid came in regularly to clean the place and change the linens and towels. It is located directly on the beach and there are kayaks and snorkel equipment available for use. You can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables off the food truck that comes by almost every day but you will definitely need to purchase some groceries in one of the larger cities before you get to Xcalak. I really liked the fact that good flats fishing and lagoon fishing is within walking distance. The owners, Dom and Sarah are great people and have gone out of their way to ensure that their guests are as comfortable as possible during their stays. The drive to Casa de Suenos is all on good paved highway until you reach Xcalak. The 10 km from Xcalak to Casa de Suenos is on dirt road and it is slow and bumpy. But if you are looking for a quiet vacation with excellent snorkeling, good fishing and miles of secluded beach, this is the place. We are returning to Casa de Suenos next year for another great vacation.

Lovely apartment on tranquil wild beach

  • 5 of 5

I wholeheartedly recommend Casa De Suenos for anyone seeking a quiet and beautiful place.

We stayed in the upstairs apartment, March 2016. The apartment is well designed, comfortably furnished, well ventilated, with great view of the sea.

The beach is just a few paces from the house. Directly in front of the house is a good place to enter the water. On the beach you have the sense of wilderness, endless stretch of beach. The next neighbour north is maybe 500 metres away, and south maybe 100 metres away, so you have the wild beach to yourself.

The location is very quiet, remotely far outside of a small village which is itself remote. The house is on the unmade road, which has almost no traffic since there are only a few more houses beyond Casa De Suenos.

The kitchen is fully equipped. Every day there is a pick up truck selling fruit, veg, herbs and tortillas.

The rooftop is a great place to look out across the jungle, watch the sunset and the night sky.

Internet was reliable during our stay. No mobile coverage :-)

Everything was super clean and well maintained.

The owners Don and Sarah, and caretaker Jane, were helpful and straightforward.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your stay! We love hearing great things about our property, and of course us as well, ha ha! We strive to attract great guests such as yourselves that know what the secluded, off-the-beaten path is all about, and love and appreciate the place for the same reasons you mentioned. Come back and see us soon!

Nice Stay

  • 5 of 5

The wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. Exactly what we were looking for........very clean and beautuful beach access at our front door. Great bed and bathroom. A very quiet and pleasant stay for us. We shared an adjacent kitchen with the property owners who were very accomodating. We look forward to a future stay. The only negative I can add is how tough the last few miles from Xcalak is. Well worth it to me to get away from the Playa and Cancun crowds. Our thanx to Dom and Sarah for a superb visit.

Secluded Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Casa de Suenos in early May, 2014. Note that when you rent this place you are renting a room within it, not the entire house. The upstairs has two bedrooms and a private kitchen. The downstairs has two bedrooms and shared kitchen. We were not told which room we were getting when we rented so you may want to know just fyi. When we were there the battery back up was not working so we were not allowed to use the ceiling fan in the bedroom. Most nights it was fine but on nights with no wind it was brutal. Check that this is fixed before you go. The caretakers are expats from the US and they were wonderful and very helpful. We loved them. Be aware they have some pets that wander the property which didn't bother us at all but you may want to know this if you are allergic or have an aversion to them. The grounds were very well maintained and the room was very clean. We snorkeled right out the door at the reef which was great. Diving was great with the XTC Dive Center and fishing with Costa de Cocos was very fun. Overall a fun trip to a beautiful remote part of Mexico.
