We Enjoy Sharing Our Refuge, our Vacation Home - Our Cabin in the Wild.
Though we love our life in the city, the therapeutic quality of nature is fact, and the soulful benefits are immense. Henry David Thoreau went to the woods because he “wished to live deliberately” and “to suck out all the marrow of life.” Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote that the outdoors brings eternal youth. We find that this place eludes the tic of time and replenishes our blood with life. May you find your moment of tranquility among the ripples of the river, as you explore this land of the amazing forest.
West Virginia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) completed the first official trout stockings of the Williams River and the Cranberry River on January 7th!
2016 is here, and we are making our personal plans for staying at the cabin in the spring, summer, and fall. Looking forward to the spring wild flowers and the rushing waters, lush green mountain summer days as time seems to stop, and vibrant autumn color on the hills. We want to hike further, picnic twice as often, and catch more trout if that is possible. Please choose your time slots early as our little cabin is becoming a little more well known. Our many blessings and thanks to all those last year that celebrated their anniversaries at our cabin. We look forward to hearing from you.

Designed by an architect and built by the owners in 2009. This stunning mountain cabin is a luxurious and complete cozy get-away. It is perfect for a couple, but will also please a small outdoor-loving, active family that ventures out into the surrounding Monongahela National Forest to bike, hike, fish, hunt, kayak, photograph and explore. Take all of your toys.
The Williams River is across the field in front of the cabin-150' away. The Cranberry River is short drive over Red Oak mountain into its watershed - 9 miles. The Williams River is more than 25 mile long.
The screened-in front porch with the rocking chairs is a great place to watch the sunrise with your favorite cup of coffee or tea, and the one you love. Or, let your love one sleep in and you enjoy the glory of the dawn, as you refresh your thoughts and mind.
Frequently, there are deer sharing the morning with you as they cross the field. We love to grill many of our meals on the gas grill. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, dishes, cork screw, skewers, some spices, etc. Sheets and towels are provided. There is Dishwasher soap.

We lead busy urban lives, and the forest, mountains, and streams always provides a true refreshing and wonderful time.
David and Dona,
We wanted to thank you again for letting us stay at your cabin. We had a wonderful trip and the weather was terrific. We arrived at your cabin Friday araound 4:00pm. We ended up doing some sightseeing on the way taking advantage of the sunny day on Friday. Your cabin is fantastic. The living room floor with the stone fireplace is beautiful. The deer head makes it a perfect cabin in the woods. Although we sort of expected a fish or two on the wall instead of a deer. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing our meals. The bathroom tile looks great around the tub. You guys did a wonderful job throuoghout the whole place. We took Saturday and went to the Cranberry campgrounds and explored a little, then we went to the falls of hills creek and did the trails there, which were very nice trails and the river was nice to walk beside with the waterfalls. We then ventured down to the New River Gorge Bridge. That is an impressive structure. we went through the state park buildiing and watched the movie about the bridge and was taught a brief history of how it was made. We ended the evening with dinner on the grill and your neighbor had put on a spotlight and apparently put food on the ground because when we went in the hot tub about 8:00 we sat and watched deer come from the hills and go and eat whatever he threw around his yard. It was very nice to see them and then to top it off it was a perfectly clear night to see an incredible amount of stars that we never get to see from our hometown. sunday we got up and explored behind your cabin up and down the Williams river for a few hours before we left around noon. we stopped at a few more spots on the way home to take a few more pics since it was another sunny, blue sky day. It was a great weekend, Thanks again.
This little piece of heaven was tucked far deep in the National Forest. The surroundings were peaceful & beautiful. The neighbor Pam is very nice & was very helpful when we were looking for directions to places we were looking to venture. The home itself was small, yet comfortable & cozy. It allowed us to bond even closer as a family. We did have some cell phone service, you just have to walk around to find the hot spot. Williams River was dry during our visit, so we went to "Big Ditch Lake", my husband caught a really nice Large Mouth Bass. It is a beautiful lake to visit and enjoy a picnic. Places to see: Falls of Hills Creek (a must see), Summersville Lake - the lake was so clear you can see the bottom. We went kyacking & the girls learned how to Paddle Board - to which they enjoy. We had ourselves a picnic there as well. We also went & saw "New River Gorge Bridge", that was a nice visit. We also enjoyed "Photo Day", we took the girls down Williams River and took lots of pictures until they saw one of WV biggest spiders, and that ended the photo shoot. We saw a bear the 2nd day crossing the road, that was my excitement. We enjoyed 2 nights of campfires. To keep ourselves creative, we did lots of Arts & Crafts. Made stepping stones & impressions of leaves, painted river rocks with scenery, made terriaums (fairy plants & cactus), did some wood burning into some flat pieces of wood we brought. Overall, we had a very wonderful time, and mother nature was working in our favor. We made the best, with what we were provided. The accomodations - there was everything you needed, and if we didn't have it, we didn't need it. You couldn't ask for anything more or less of this little piece of heaven that David & Dona had shared with us. Therefore, we wish to thank you for all you have provided, and answers to all our questions & needs...........I would deffinately reccomend this rental to all who has an open mind, a willing to adventure, and one who is creative at heart..oh, and for those who need to kick back and just relax....a must in the hot tub. The girls enjoyed the Jacuzzi! *One thing that you must keep in mind, no matter where you venture, make it a day venture - as it takes about an hour to hour and a half to get anywhere - remember you are in the middle of NOWHERE!; and thats where this little piece of heaven sits!

This cabin isn't as remote as it looks, but that was fine by us! Good access to the road for exploring this wonderful area.
Everything in this cabin was spot on, very clean. The inside is furnished and decorated to a very high standard, even down to the crockery, towels etc. We're not big film fans (sorry movies!) but we watched a movie a night and were kept toastie by the lovely welcoming fire. The hot tub and Jacuzzi bath add an extra touch of luxury.
The property was nicely decorated. It was far into the forest and surrounded by trees. However, our first evening there we were trying to enjoy the hot tub when a hunter set up his truck and tent within feet of us. He was also out there in the field with a flashlight that was dying into the loft! It was not private at all. The neighbor also walked passed several times and there was a loud group of campers across the slur that took prime fishing spot. It was a beautiful place and owners are very accommodating. However if you want to be totally alone this is not the spit for you.
This is our second year for a fishing get away and we love going. the cabin is everything you need and more..Great place.
My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at Living Waters Cabin. The accommodations were even better than we expected. Furnishings, appliances, grill, Jacuzzi and hot tub are all very nice! Comfortable atmosphere; very "homey" with games, books, and movies stocked. Love the little balcony off of the bedroom. My husband enjoyed fishing the Williams River, and exploring the Cranberry Wilderness while I read, cooked, and relaxed in the Jacuzzi. Later we enjoyed steaks on the grill and a long soak in the hot tub under a full moon. Perfect!
We had the most peaceful and serene getaway weekend at your cabin. It is so well equipped with everything we could need. So much enjoyed the 3 falls hike. Thank you again for allowing us to get back to nature in your beautiful cabin.

Our lovely little cabin is remotely located alongside the Williams River well inside the Monongahela National Forest. The HomeAway Map does not accurately show the location as the cabin is about 6 miles further into the forest. MapQuest will display the correct location. Williams River Road follows the Williams River for about 28 miles. The Google Property Marker on the Google Map for this listing is short of the actual location by about 5 or 6 miles. The cabin is 2.8 miles on up river from what locals refer to as the 'Low Water Bridge', which is a Forest Route that crosses the Williams River and goes up over Red Oak Mountain and down to the Cranberry River. This is a good marker. The cabin is 18 miles from the Highlands Scenic Highway (State Route 150). The Highlands Sceninc Highway and the Williams River Road intersect 18 miles up-river above the cabin.
It is a beautiful drive along the Williams anytime during the year. The forrest has lush summer greens, vibrant color in Autumn. great trout fishing and excellent hunting all around our cabin, our rivers, and our mountains - All to share with you.
