Why David Thayer chose Cowen
We lead busy urban lives, and the forest, mountains, and streams always provides a true refreshing and wonderful time. Seldom is life in the mountains crowded, strained, or agitating like the beach. There is generally a supple element of nature to soothe the soul around every curve, over every ridge, and in every valley.

Remote Setting in the Wilderness
Great house tucked away in the Monongahela National Forest. Completely disconnect from all devices. Quiet place to take in the beauty of nature, look at a full sky of stars at night and take in a hike in the wilderness of MNF.
Beautiful quiet get away.
The cabin is exactly ass pictured and described. VERY clean and well appointed. The owner's were great to get along with and accommodating to a few special requests. Good trout fishing in the river right across the field. Only negative is that the road is closed just a 1 east of the house so if you are looking to drive that way and do some fishing you can't get far. I will be back at this cabin for sure!!
This was a nice cabin near the Williams River. Great place to stay when going trout fishing. Word of advice though. Come in to the cabin from Cowen, WV. We tried coming in from the senic highway and the Williams River Road was closed half way through. We had to drive around to get to the cabin.
The cabin was very clean and the location was lovely. We were please with our stay.
We rented this cabin for a weekend getaway and it provided just what we were looking for. We drove into Craigsville for pizza one night and to visit the local grocery store. Other than that we stayed in the cabin all weekend. It was very cold outside so we did not make use of the Jacuzzi. We did make use of the movie selection provided and watched a few movie in front of the fireplace. This cabin was very clean and well kept. We have visited numerous cabins in WV and this one was one of the best ones. Maybe someday we will return.
Beautiful property. Just what we needed for a little R&R.
The property lived up to our expectation. The cabin is charming and clean. The owners were thorough and helpful.
Charming cabin in a fairly secluded area.
Enjoyed our stay at the cabin, although we had to cut our time short due to illness. Just that time of year.
The cabin is very nice and we really were enjoying ourselves. It was everything we were hoping for and would love to go back at some time.
Our lovely little cabin is remotely located alongside the Williams River well inside the Monongahela National Forest. MapQuest will display the correct location. Williams River Road follows the Williams River for about 28 miles. The Google Maps Property Marker now displays properly, where at one point it did not. The cabin is 2.8 miles on up river from what locals refer to as the 'Low Water Bridge', which is a Forest Route that crosses the Williams River and goes up over Red Oak Mountain and down to the Cranberry River. This is a good marker. The cabin is 18 miles from the Highlands Scenic Highway (State Route 150). The Highlands Sceninc Highway and the Williams River Road intersect 18 miles up-river above the cabin.
However, the upper section of the road is temporarily closed for repair in early spring 2019, creating a temporary "Backcountry Wilderness"
It is a beautiful drive along the Williams anytime during the year. The forest has lush summer greens, vibrant color in Autumn, great trout fishing and excellent hunting all around our cabin, our rivers, and our mountains - All to share with you.
