Why Jean Pierce chose Salt Pond
Grotto Bay is located on the calm side of the island, which is perfect for all sorts of water sports. However, those so inclined can trek less than a mile to see waves crashing on the other side of the island! Restaurants and grocery stores are within very easy walking distance. Long Island's annual Regatta (the first weekend in June) takes place literally off of Grotto Bay's beach.

We love everything about this rental. Jean was the perfect host from the beginning, providing great tips before we began traveling and reserving a car with Mr. T. When we arrived. Miss Wynette showed us around the beautiful tropical property and gave us a list of restaurants, grocery stores, and a detailed list of places to go. This was our second time to LI and we loved staying in the center of the island. We enjoyed all the little extras you get with this property like having coffee on the porch, kayaking to the island, playing horseshoes, building a fire at night and having internet access to plot the next days adventures. Long Island is a special place with wonderful people and we can’t wait to return. Thank you Jean for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.
We enjoy creating a home-like atmosphere where our guests can totally relax and unwind. Most of our guests enjoy a cup of coffee or tea either on the deck or on the beach! It's a serene environment in the morning and can be absolutely breathtaking at night, watching the sunset.
We love staying at Grotto Bay. The owners were easy to connect with and very helpful. The place is a gem on Long Island in the Bahamas and we would highly recommended this property.
Thank you so much! We built Grotto Bay 19 years ago and absolutely love our Long Island family. Long Island has most of the positive attributes of other Bahamian islands -- soft, sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, unpolluted skies, etc. -- but it is truly unique for having genuinely friendly islanders who enjoy sharing their island with visitors. And visitors invariably leave with glowing comments and lasting memories.
A beautiful sanctuary for peace and relaxation
Chris and Jeanne were the best! Very friendly and hospitable, helpful and reliable. A great place to visit for quiet relaxation with beautiful foliage, lush landscaping and very convenient for food shopping and other essentials. A perfect getaway
My wife and I have rented many properties on many islands in the Bahamas this one was by far the best
Great place a week or two R and R!
The grounds. vegitation, proximity to places to eat and markets can't be beat. The room is a bit dark to do any office type work.. so don't. When Kris and Jeannie are on the property, it makes it all the more special.
Grotto Bay is on the calm side of the island, facing west -- perfect for boating, snorkeling & swimming. Sunsets are sensational! It takes only a few minutes for visitors to hop over to the opposite side of the island where the wind blows & waves crash.
Anglers can kayak out to nearby uninhabited cays and cast a line to fighting bonefish or bring something tasty back to throw on the grill. A beachfront fire pit is perfect for socializing and cooking your catch!
Although very secluded and serene, Grotto Bay is within easy walking distance to restaurants and the best grocery stores on the island.
Grotto Bay is the primo spot for watching the Long Island Regatta (every June). The races start right off of our own beach. Just grab a beach chair, a pair of binoculars and a libation & you'll have the best seat on the island. An unusual feature on the property is the 3-chambered Salt Pond Cave, one of the largest in the Bahamas, featuring beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.
