A lovely apartment in an excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed for five nights in this lovely apartment. We had been to Bordeaux twice before but were in hotels for those short visits. This time we chose to reside in this apartment and were glad that we did. It is in a superb location on the Quai de Chartrons. We were able to walk to so many places - great restaurants, stores, the Grand Théâtre for a ballet, the celebration of the Nouvel Vin. The tram also stopped in front of the building which was helpful for longer distance destinations such as the newly opened La Cité du Vin. From the apartment terrace we could enjoy the view of the Garonne River and the Jardin Public at night when it was aglow with lights from a special children's fair. For a few days a cruise ship docked which added even more interest. Sunday morning there was an outdoor market along the river filled with wonderful fresh produce, cheeses, breads and other specialties which we very much enjoyed. The apartment was bright, spacious and comfortable with everything necessary for our stay. We always ate our breakfast in and then usually enjoyed lunch and some dinners out. However, a couple of evenings I was very happy to cook in the well equipped, very efficient kitchen area. A Carrefour Express was nearby so it was easy to buy last minute groceries and wine when needed. We wished we had planned to stay a few days longer but hope to return as soon as possible to this very pleasant apartment in a most wonderful city. Upon arrival, we were met at the apartment by Anabelle, the agent, who gave us a tour plus the necessary information. We did not meet the owner, Agathe, but communicated with her whenever needed, such as when the front outer door lock was unexpectedly changed. She kindly arranged for us to pick up the keys from the building resident in charge and all was fine. Being in the heart of the city overlooking the street, there is some expected street noise but we did not find it to be a problem. Our only suggestion would be to consider replacing the high dining table and stools with lower ones that offer more comfort and back support. This is not a criticism but an observation and a personal preference so we still consider the apartment to be a wonderful 5-star property. Thank you, Agathe, for your hospitable apartment! We really were happy being there.

Luxury living, great place to "come home" too after a day of wine tasting!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I enjoyed staying in this beautiful apt. for five nights. It had a few quirks, which we learned to deal with, like no hot water after 10 pm, it seems, but in general we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. Suggestions would be to leave instructions for the TV in the living room and to give a tutorial on the front door, street level door lock! That thing gave us a hard time, every time. Overall still an easy 5 stars. Lovely, very classy apt. Hope to return next year.

Superb location!

  • 5 of 5

The views of the Garonne from this apartment and balcony are incomparable, only occasionally blocked by a large cruise ship docked near-by. The apartment itself is exceptionally appointed and furnished and impeccably clean, with top of the line appliances and furnishings. We stayed a month and made numerous side trips enjoying the wine tours and visiting villages accessible by train, as we decided against having a car. Don't miss the exceptional towns such as St. Emilion, and Perigeaux, as well as beaches - we loved Biarritz and the Basque country, as well as the museums and markets in Bordeaux The owner is helpful and accessible, as is her daughter., Dominika, and representative, Annabelle. Only complaints were the lack of adequate lighting for reading, no place to sit on the balcony, and difficulty learning the ropes of using the appliances, especially the induction oven and stove top. We were loathe to leave this neighborhood of Bordeaux which has much to offer the culturally oriented traveler, and would dearly love an opportunity to return for another long stay.

A Home from Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent just over a month here in the apartment. As you can imagine, for this length of time, I really wanted a home from home. This apartment certainly ticked all the boxes. Beautifully decorated, spacious, gorgeous view, high quality appliances and fittings, and extremely convenient location. The only negative is I found the bedroom a little too dark but that is totally a personal taste, as it was very tastefully decorated, and romantic :).

The apartment was nice and professionally cleaned. The hostess was very helpful. Internet was fast and wifi good. No problem at all. We will most certainly stay again next year if our own place is not ready by then :).
