Modern and recently refurnished apartment on a Houseboat in Amsterdam

37 Reviews
Bedrooms 2

Property type house boat
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

Photos and Description of this Van der Pekbuurt holiday house boat

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

A modern apartment with a romantic touch on a houseboat. Well renovated, clean and cosy. Tastefully decorated with great care for details. The apartment is equipped with all you could need to make it a home away from home.

The location is very close to the busy centre of Amsterdam but still in a quiet residential area. A nice place to return to after a day of exploring Amsterdam.

The houseboat has 2 separate double bedrooms; not many houseboats have this.

The kitchen is complete, so you can make the choice whether to eat out or make a home meal.

To get to central station takes about 10 minutes by bicycle and 15 minutes by foot. You can also take the bus for 1 stop.

Ferry free of charge taking you over 'het IJ' to central station 24/7, offering a beautiful view of the canal.

The patio was recently renewed and provides two areas to hang out; a place to eat at the picnic table and a place to enjoy your afternoon drinks.

Exactly what we were looking for!

Our visit could not have been improved. The location was easy to find, the property was incredibly clean and had everything we needed. Our in-person orientation was very beneficial to have any questions we had answered, and get an overview of the place. The guidebook expertly included additional thoughts of the immediate and surrounding areas. Books, maps and travel guides were handy to have for extra information. Our evenings were very quiet and we never heard the adjacent room during our stay, nor the ducks floating by. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a special place to stay while visiting Amsterdam. Both floors were well maintained and offered lots of space to store things. Big decks out front to sit down and enjoy the outside.

There's a little pub/restaurant called ONS that we popped into twice in four days that had excellent service and food and beverages choices. Its on the route to/from the ferry and has wi-fi too. Excellent customer service. Anyone that is wary or curious of logistics getting to the ferry will be amazed at their first crossing. The Ferry system at Amsterdam Central getting to/from Noord warrants a major kudos. We never had to wait more than 2 minutes on the 12 times we needed it to cross.

We had a great experience and would not hesitate to return. Thanks for a memorable trip! Don't change a thing.

Sander was so helpful and he greeted us right on time as discussed. The houseboat was in great condition and just at the photos were. We loved the location as it was a bit away from the hubbub but just a short walk or bike ride away. I would definitely stay there again on our next trip to Amsterdam! We loved everything about it

Authentic houseboat in North Amsterdam

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in this conveniently located houseboat in Amsterdam. Large double rooms which were comfortable, walking distance from local shops for food. There was a street market on the Saturday which meant I could buy fresh fruit at great prices There is a lot of building work in the surrounding area and some signs of neglect as the area is undergoing regeneration. However, the houseboat itself is immaculate and very comfortable. There was no building work at night. It was perfect to get away from the busy city centre. We loved the free ferry into the city centre. Took less than 10 minutes. We also appreciated lots of coffee. And Sander was great at responding to our requests within the day. Overall a really great stay - I would recommend it!

Clean, bright and airy, with excellent bathroom storage and a very well equipped kitchen.

A very well presented property and in a great location. We enjoyed the ferry trip and short walk. leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind after a busy day of sightseeing. The calm and quiet of the canal was a lovely contrast. Good internet connection. The central station had an excellent supermarket, where we bought a few supplies which we used for making evening meals on the boat, and Wagamama did a take out service which we used one night too.The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment and it even had basic storecupboard ingredients.

The owner was excellent in communicating promptly and was helpful with any queries before we left home. I would definitely recommend the property to others.

If the windows had been bigger to take advantage of the views of the canal from the lounge it would have definitely been 5 star!

Awesome houseboat!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this lovely houseboat last month. It is located in North Amsterdam, and it is a very short ferry ride to the Central Station in Amsterdam. To get to the ferry station, it's about a 10-15 minute walk along the canal. The ferry is free of charge and it runs quite frequently. The houseboat is located in a residential area which was very quiet and safe. There are two grocery stores nearly. We travelled by car so parking was important to us. Parking is allowed during certain times of the day with a permit that Sanders provided, but he recommended we park at a Park & Ride (P+R Zeeburg I) which was very convenient and it only cost us 1 Euro per day. There are not too many restaurants around the area, but we did eat at the Number One Café nearby. The food selection was very good, and the food was very good.

The houseboat has two bedrooms on the top floor along with the bathroom. On the bottom floor, you have the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen was well equipped. We only used it for breakfast since we spent most of our day in Amsterdam. I believe there was a TV, but we never turned it on. The wi-fi worked well.

We rented bicycles in Amsterdam and rode them to the houseboat every day. You can take them on the ferry without any problem. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Located in a quiet residential area. It's a 10 minutes walk to the free ferry (runs 24 hours a day) which takes you in a couple of minutes straight to the Central station right in the middle of the city. From here all the major attractions of Amsterdam like the Anne Frank House, van Gogh museum etc. are easy to reach by bus or tram. The best way is however to rent bikes to move around like the locals.
