About this property

Pet-Friendly Mountainside Chalet w/ Gas Fireplace, Big Deck, & Sunset Views

Located up a small mountain (hello sunsets & views!) surrounded by tall trees on a 1/2 acre in a quiet neighborhood -- guests love staying at our quiet, cozy 'home base' just ~10 mins from downtown Wolfeboro (and 15 mins to Lake Winnipesaukee).

OUTDOORS: guests love our huge deck w/ dining & lounge furniture (April-Nov) + a Weber grill. The yard and surrounding woods are ideal for letting the dogs out, and in the side yard is a fire pit area... just bring your own firewood!

INDOORS: The chalet was renovated recently and is fully stocked with all the comfortable linens, kitchen/dining amenities, games, books, and puzzles you could want! With a large open-concept kitchen/dining area/living room you can enjoy games or a movie on the over-sized couch, or a family meal around the large dining table. We also have high-speed WiFi and a large desk workspace with a monitor, so you can work remotely in comfort.

KITCHEN:
The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, crockpot, toaster oven, nutribullet blender, microwave, 3 types of coffee makers, a coffee grinder, and plenty of pots & pans including an XL skillet for making tons of pancakes. We also have a variety of serving platters & dishes, as well as candles, if you'd like to dine in-style for special occasions. The dishwasher makes clean-up a breeze.

BEDROOMS:
The 1st guest bedroom is located on the main living level, across from the bathroom -- it has a queen bed, ceiling fan, & closet. The 2nd and 3rd guest bedrooms are on the upper level of the house (upstairs from the main living level) -- both of which have ceiling fans, small closets & desks.

BASEMENT:
The basement (which is the main entrance into the house) has a mudroom area, bonus living room space, and laundry room.

PARKING:
The driveway has space for 3 cars. Parking is not allowed on the road.

NEIGHBORHOOD:
The home is located on the northern end of New Durham, just minutes from the Wolfeboro town line, in a residential neighborhood called Copple Crown Village. Copple Crown mountain was a former ski-mountain up through the 1970's, and is now a nice neighborhood with a mix of newer homes & vintage chalets. You'll be able to glimpse other houses through the trees, but you'll still have a feeling of privacy on our 1/2 acre corner lot.

LOCATION:
The house is:
~ 15 mins from Alton Bay and downtown Wolfeboro
- 18 mins from the Alton traffic circle
- 25 mins from Mount Major and Rochester NH
- 30 mins from Gunstock Mountain and Ossipee NH
- 45 mins from Dover & Laconia NH
- 1 hour from Concord, Portsmouth, and Conway NH
- 1hr 15mins from Manchester NH and Portland ME

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

1. We take cleanliness and the condition of the house seriously! Our cleaners work hard to detail and sanitize the house prior to your arrival. Beds come made-up for you with fresh linens, we provide you bath towels/wash cloths, and laundry & trash removal are both included in your cleaning fee.

2. Well-behaved dogs are welcome for an additional $15/dog per night. Pets are not allowed up on the couches or beds and you are asked to clean up their waste from the yard.

3. The house is located up a steep hill with a sloped driveway. In snowy/icy weather you will need AWD and a good set of tires to make it to the house safely.

4. There are 2 exterior security cameras; 1 facing the driveway/road and 1 facing the side yard/deck entrance. These are primarily to ensure property maintenance is taken care of, and also double as a security measure and for our liability.

5. There have been bears and other wildlife sighted in the neighborhood. Don't leave food or your pets outside.

Well done comfortably place to stay
The house was very clean and nicely put together, i loved the way it was decorated and the finishings were nice quality. The kitchen had pretty much everything i needed to cook multiple meals. The beds were super comfortable, top 5 easily out of the last 20 houses ive stayed at. The guide that comes with the house is very well put together with pictures and info about anything you would need to know about the house. Overall the house was very professionally put together and would highly recommend.

Grade A Chalet!
We came to NH for a concert and to check out possible retirement areas. This was perfect-centrally located so we traveled all over the state and saw so many wonderful sites! What a beautiful state! The home itself was immaculate, comfortably furnished and spacious! It was quite warm and humid when we visited so we appreciated the central ac. Everything we needed was at the house and the owner was so nice and helpful! She even left us coffee (delicious) and doggie treats! I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Home in the Lakes Region
This home was very comfortable for our family of 3 with central air conditioning and a well equipped kitchen. We stayed in July and greatly appreciated being cool. We were thankful for the ease of checking in and out! This was by far one of the easiest rentals for check out! We had a few concerns that could help future renters: The driveway is short, steep, and tight, with deep speed-bump-like-dips at the entrance, and a drop off. This was tough to navigate even with our 4-wheel drive Jeep. (Our sedan would have scraped these bumps.) The uneven staircase to the main floor was tricky. We had extremely low water pressure all week. It effected filling a glass of water, showering, and everything in between, possibly including the effectiveness of the dishwasher (which was not attached and shifted outward when loading). We found many pots, pans & utensils greasy and with food stuck to them when we arrived, so we needed to wash before using, which we did by hand after realizing the dishwasher wasn't effective. Hilary was very kind to leave local coffee beans and dog biscuits as a welcome gift. (Although we do not have a dog.) However, the coffee grinder would not spin until we unclogged all the previous renters beans. We found many little ants on the tables and floor. There had been quite a bit of rain, so perhaps that brought the ants. The home is gorgeous inside and decorated beautifully as seen on Instagram and in person which made it very comfortable inside.

Wonderful stay!
We had a great stay in July 2021. The house is extremely cosy, clean and convenient. It rained a bunch during the month, but we were very content in the house by the fireplace! Nice size bedrooms and big open living room upstairs with TV area downstairs as well. Location is great -- wonderful to see green everywhere, great deck and firepit. We cooked quite a bit at home and found everything we needed -- also grilled out on the deck several nights. Easy distance to Wolfeboro and other locations around the lake. We traveled down to the Cotton Valley trail (about 10 - 15 mins) to walk/run in the mornings and down into Wolfeboro and Meredith for dinners out, etc. Hillary was super communicative and leaves a binder with instructions for everything, but also very quick to respond when we had questions. Hope we can be back soon!

About the host

Hosted by Hilary Lane

Host profile image
Hi, I'm Hilary! I bought this house in-part because I loved the location and wanted a good home-base in the NH Lakes Region, and in-part to create a great vacation rental as an investment.

Professionally, I own/manage 4 vacation rentals in New Hampshire, and also provide creative & consulting services to other Airbnb hosts through my business WildeWoods Design. In my past life I used to own a coffee shop, and have also spent many years in the corporate world in marketing/branding roles.

In my free time, I love being outdoors and enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, etc... My favorite kind of vacations are national parks -- I've been to Acadia multiple times, as well as Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Smoky Mountains, Everglades, and Haleakala in Maui.

Why they chose this property

New Durham is highly under-rated! Although not waterfront, this house is so conveniently located to downtown Wolfeboro, Alton Bay, hiking at Mount Major or Castle in the Clouds, and Ossipee -- and is just the right distance from Portsmouth/Dover, Concord, Portland, and Boston for a little getaway in the heart of the NH lakes region!

I love that this house has such a private, quiet, woodsy feel while being so centrally located to everything. It feels amazing coming back at the end of a long day exploring, to curl up on the comfy couch or watch the sunset off the deck, or start up a fire in the fire pit. And major bonus -- everything's newly renovated!

What makes this property unique

Where else can you enjoy your coffee on a giant deck among the treetops, mountain-side sunsets, a fire pit, and an updated, adorable chalet as a perfect "home base" to come back to, while so close to Lake Winni and Wolfeboro's restaurants and shops!? AND you can bring your pets, because I believe in vacationing with the whole fam. Additionally, you will always find the house seasonally decorated so it feels cozy all year round!
