About Martha Howard, Gulf Coast Keyholders and Exit Realty, Gulf Shores

Owner Brian Murray (left), pictured here with property manager Martha Howard (center) and partner David Kilborn (right) bought this cottage so he could be near family when he retires. Until then he wants to share it with others who want to get away for some quiet time near the water. As the "parent" of three fuzzy four legged "children" Brian knows just how hard it can be to find a pet friendly place to spend a vacation. Clovis, Mimi, and Sissy are looking forward to spending their golden years on Mobile Bay.

Why Martha Howard, Gulf Coast Keyholders and Exit Realty, Gulf Shores chose Alabama Gulf Coast

Not only did David grow up in this area but his sisters, nieces and nephews live here too. As for the home, there is not a more beautiful spot on the bay - the view, the old oaks with Spanish moss hanging from their limbs, the gentle lap of the water, the spacious yard, the quiet setting and peaceful surroundings simply spoke of home. The large yard and distance from the busy highway also made this home a perfect spot for children and pets.

What makes this cottage unique

This property offers a guest a different view of Gulf Shores. Quiet and secluded under old oaks this home is far away from the vacation rental crowd. Guests experience what it is like to live along the bay on the island's Ft Morgan peninsula. Sunsets are unparalleled from the pier it shares with its two neighbors. For those who want to play in the Gulf waters the beach at the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is almost across the street. A two minute drive will take you to its pristine shore where you can swim, fish, walk, shell and bask in the rays. Located about nine miles from town it is a quick trip to the center of the action, shops, restaurants, and attractions if you can tear yourself away from the front porch.

Notes:
DATA! There is only one Internet provider available at Bay Leave; data is limited and costly. In an effort to increase Internet speed we buy 5 gig each month. However, when a guest uses all or most of that data during a stay the Internet is painfully slow for everyone else the rest of the month. Because many of our guests use their own data and refrain from streaming while here we feel it is not fair to raise our rental prices to cover data some people do not use. Therefore, we charge for use above 1 gig while you are in residence. The charge is deducted from your deposit at the end of your stay at our cost of $10 per gig. To avoid charges you can use data during free hours (3am-8am), use your own device data, or refrain from steaming movies, videos, music, etc. The Internet is still free and the small amount of data related to checking email and using your device minimally should not affect your bill. If your use exceeds 1 gig you will be charged at our cost of $10 per gig

Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Photographs do not represent the tranquility and peace of this home. It's a beautiful, quiet place on Mobile Bay and makes the perfect place to relax with family and fur babies. The owners and manager have created a true "home away from home" with furnishings, decor, kitchen items, and starter supplies. Every inch of living space - inside and out- is well thought out.

Cleanest place I have ever stayed at!

  • 4 of 5

It is indeed very pet friendly! I only had one issue. When we looked at the fence we were a little concerned because the pickets didn't go down to the ground. Buddy, our dog, is a dachshund mix. I mentioned this concern to Emily and she appropriately told me if I had concerns to notify Martha. Well, I started taking him out on a leash but then I decided that he was too big to escape. So I went out with him unleashed. We had to unexpectantly leave several days early. While we were packing Buddy escaped, perhaps from the back fence! Fortunately he didn't go anywhere. So, if somebody has a small dog they would need to keep him on a leash.

Beautiful Place - so relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This was such a beautiful place in a quiet location. Though we do not have pets, it looked very pet friendly! I was amazed at how clean and beautiful it was. The only thing I would even mention that needs to be rethought would be the sofas - though rattan is beautiful it was a little uncomfortable. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay, bedrooms and outdoor sitting areas were perfect! Ms. Martha was more than helpful when we needed assistance, such a wonderful lady!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. So glad you enjoyed your stay. You will be happy to know that a new sofa is being delivered on May 16. We had hoped it would get here sooner but it did not ship as fast as we thought it would. Next time you visit your sofa will be more comfortable!

Best stocked home we've stayed in!

  • 5 of 5

This truly felt like a home away from home. There was not a single kitchen item that I missed. Just Far enough off the beaten path to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to get anything you need.

Property was very good. Wicker furniture looked great but not so comfortable.

Beautiful view of the bay!!! Very neat and clean property.

We absolutely loved the setting of this cottage. My husband and son spent most of their time fishing on the dock and was able to hook a couple red drums. We also loved the mature oak trees with the Spanish Moss that surrounded the house. The only draw back for us the distance away from restaurants, shopping and entertainment. It felt like we spent a great deal of our vacation in the car driving to find dinner or entertainment. Would highly recommend for older couples or younger couples without children that require entertainment.
