About this property

Camp Bud- Boating and Fishing on Beech Hill Pond close to Acadia

This is the real deal, our camp was built by my grandfather in the 1940's and has been lovingly kept up by our family ever since. Camp Bud has 100' of waterfront in quiet School House Cove on crystal clear, spring fed, Beech Hill Pond which measure three miles by five and has great fishing, loons, ducks, eagles and so much more. We provide a 18' canoe, paddle boat and 3 adult kayaks and 2 kids kayaks for exploring the lake. Acadia National Park is a 45 min drive from camp.
Our roomy 10' by 20' screened/glassed in porch is just 10 feet from the waters edge. Every guest we have had over the past 5 years has said "The porch is the place to be!" Many people sleep on the porch even if there is room for them to sleep in the camp. There is nothing like listening to the rain on the roof directly over your head or hearing the Loons just outside the porch screens, catching the pine scented breeze in the evening, or hearing the waves lapping on the rock lined shore. The porch features a futon and a long roomy table built by my father 50 years ago. Using the bench and chairs the table will seat 8 comfortably for your lobster dinner (we provide all pots, utensils and special plates you would need for this) or maybe you will want to cook out on our large Bar-B-Q / Smoker located just outside the porch door, (we do not provide charcoal) also all utensils for this are hanging on the porch wall including long forks for cooking hot dogs and s'mores over the fire pit, we do not provide wood, however fire wood stands are on the roads and most stores also sell bundles of wood. We also have a large table and chairs for picnicking outdoors under the pines and only 5 feet from the waters edge
Many charming features are still intact such as the painted wood floors, the original knotty pine paneling the pealed pine logs that make up the railing to the loft bedroom. The original wood shed and boat house are also still here.
The master bedroom and bathroom were added on in the 80's. This bedroom has a nice view to the water a queen size bed dresser and large closet. The bath is right beside the master and has a shower. there is another 1/2 bath in the laundry room.
We supply all linens, extra blankets, plenty of towels including beach towels, we also provide toilet paper shampoo and soap.
We have a nice large kitchen as you can see in the pictures. We supply table settings for 8 all pots and pans mixing bowls and cooking utensils in addition to paper towels plastic wrap, aluminum foil, storage containers, most basic spices, salt and pepper, coffee, sugar, flour, cooking oil, Pam, soy sauce, dish washing liquid dish washer detergent (cascade)
We have had many guests that have booked 1 week the first year have come back the next year and booked 2 weeks so they can spend one at camp and the other at Acadia National Park and the many other scenic attractions.
The camp has air conditioning, downstairs and large oscillating fan in the loft, the house has a simple to use enclosed Rinnai Propane heater.
Please contact me for more information on our camp.

Great Place to Stay
This camp was great. The screened in porch had an amazing view of the pond. If it had been a touch warmer we would have had our dinners out on porch. But it was lovely to sit out on and watch the ducks. The kitchen had everything needed and more! Lots of dinnerware, cookware, and utensils. The property owner was very helpful. Lots of good information about the camp and area. She gave us some time to get our stuff in and get settled a bit before she visited. The location was just the right amount of remoteness and access to town and hiking opportunities. I loved feeding the ducks each day with cracked corn that was provided. A good time was had by all.

Exceptional cabin!
All amenities were provided above and beyond. Very clean and comfortable cabin. The covered porch was the highlight of our stay which was mere feet from the beautiful and clear lake. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend!

Perfect Maine cabin in the woods
Camp Bud is everything I hoped for in a Maine vacation. Gorgeous woods, sparkling lake, cabin equipped with everything you could possibly need. The place was decorated like an LL Bean catalog. Lots of good places to eat in Ellsworth, 1/2!hour away. Acadia less than an hour’s drive. Linda and Steve were the perfect hosts. Thank you for a relaxing and fun vacation. PS Stay two weeks and give yourself time to relax and still do all you want to do.

Wonderful Week on the Lake
We had a great time staying at Camp Bud for a week. With its quiet and peaceful setting and the quaint cabin that is so well appointed for anything we could have needed, Camp Bud was the perfect home base while we vacationed in and around Acadia National Park. We would definitely stay here again!

Exactly what you want in a Maine camp stay
I can't say enough good things about this rental. Linda and Steve (our hosts) made things so easy and were very nice. The ambiance is exactly what we were looking for. I've been staying at camps all my life and Camp Bud reminded me so much of rustic charm of my grandparents place. Comfortable and relaxed. When it comes to the practical side of things, the kitchen and cookware were well stocked and quality. We brought some cookware thinking we can't entirely rely on what comes with the camp and we couldn't have been more wrong. We didn't lack for a single bit of cookware. The kitchen was also well-stocked with seasonings and extras including a very cool smores kit. Camp Bud was comfortable for relaxing during the day or bedding down at night. The location is excellent on a nice, quiet stretch of Beech Hill Pond. The wildlife was also impressive with daily visits from the ducks, a regular parade of loons, bald eagles fishing...just spectacular. There is a great swimming area for adults and kids alike and plenty of water accessories on hand in the boathouse. Lastly, check in and check out couldn't have been easier. We would 100% come and stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Myself, my husband Steve and our huge Maine Coon Cat "Kody" live next door to Camp Bud (Bud is my brother)
We live on a separate lot, not too close, but close enough to help with any issues or questions you may have.
My husband Steve and I were born here and are true "Mainers" we live on the lake year round and love it

Why they chose this property

We are the third generation to own our Camp on Beech Hill
When my grandfather built here in the 1940's there was no road to the property, they had to hike in. There were very few camps on the lake at that time.
In order to get supplies to the property that were to heavy to pack in, they waited until the ice froze and drove a truck across the lake to the sight, dropped off the supplies and came back in the Spring to continue building. One of the heavy items was my Grandmothers cast iron wood burning cook stove, unfortunately we had to remove it so our guests could enjoy a modern kitchen. Don't worry about the stove it is now at our hunting camp up north.
