This was just what we needed! We wanted to go away for a weekend just to get a change of scenery. This cabin was perfect for our family. We have two young children and they loved using the bunk beds. We enjoyed playing games, reading and watching some TV. Even though it was a really cold weekend, we loved getting to meet the goats and horses and ducks. We all decided we want to visit again in warmer weather so we can spend more time with the animals! Thank you so much, Tracy and Jim, for everything.
We had such a lovely stay in this cabin! The property is so charming - with a beautifully equipped cabin - heat, hot water, full kitchen - including a gas stove. We especially loved all the animals on the farm - horses, goats, swans, ducks and chickens! Jim and Tracy were there to greet us and give us a tour but gave us our space at the same time. The cabin was also close to kayaking and hiking trails! We loved sitting on our back porch and enjoying a cup of coffee looking out into the forest. Can't wait to visit again!! :)
Upon arrival, Jim gave us a tour of the house and gave us a rundown of the animals on the farm - swans, ducks, horses, and tons of cute goats! I've never stayed in a log cabin before and this one was a treat with every amenity we needed. It was clean and the perfect size for our group of 5. Waking up to the rooster crowing and looking out on the pond and its swans was truly a change of pace from our usual mornings. If you're coming to the area for a couple days, your search is over!
We had the pleasure of staying at Jim and Tracy's farm while visiting our daughter at a nearby sleep away camp. There were four of us staying in the cottage and our daughter joined us for the last night. The house is located off of dirt roads out in the woods. It's a basic cabin but much bigger and nicer than any hotel in the area. Since we were going to arrive late at night, Tracy suggested that we stop by early in the day just to get the lay of the land since it's quite dark at night. Great suggestion.
We enjoyed meeting all of the goats and chickens, their two horses and their super friendly dog. The kids were excited to have a new experience under their belts and we were pleased with the selection of this perfect cabin. Exactly what Homeaway is meant for - a great pick for us! Thanks Jim/Tracy.
Enjoyed a long, lazy weekend at this cozy cabin. Plenty of room, full modern kitchen, and extremely clean. A/C was already on when we arrived. All of this was important, since it rained most of the weekend and we couldn't hang outside too much. We watched the goats, swans, ducks, chickens, and horses from the covered porch, and had drinks on the back porch. Jim and Tracey were so welcoming and friendly, as was Jessie, the happiest farm dog ever. Jim gave us a short and thorough tour upon arrival, and offered suggestions for places to eat (Matthew's on Main in Callicoon and Little Italy II in Hancock were every bit as good as you said!) These hosts allowed us as much privacy as we wanted, yet were so generous with their time, knowledge, and goodies. In the morning, Tracey invited us to watch her milk the goats while she shared the farm's history and great stories about her animals. Later, we saw her riding one of her beautiful horses... she also showed us her impressive garden, and gave us some of the harvest! Jim shared their farm-made soap and some local corn on the cob. This is a little piece of paradise, and the animals are so well cared for; it is truly a joyful place. Couple of caveats: this is a rural setting, so plan to drive 10-45 minutes for places to eat, attractions, etc., and if you must be online, Verizon & AT&T's coverage, as well as the Wi-Fi, were spotty during this very rainy weekend. Overall, this was a great weekend and one of the most memorable VRBO/Homeaway properties I've stayed in.
We stayed here for a week while we visited family at Camp Weequahic. This clean cottage is on the cutest farm right next to a lake. My girls enjoyed saying hello to the animals every morning and Jim and Tracy were welcoming and treated us like family. All of their animals are friendly and used to kids and it is a serene escape from the city or everyday life. We definitely plan on returning soon!
