Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, sleeps 8

Spacious 3,700 square foot resort-style country home on 5 acres, adjacent to miles of open space. Enjoy stunning mountain views while hot tubing from your large deck, or retreat to the private and secluded back yard pool area, with three waterfalls and a large resort style rock hot tub, hammock and outdoor grill. Inside other amenities await, including a gym, sauna, pool table, large screen TV, and 3 fireplaces, all set in a blend of southwestern and native american decor. While you may feel miles away from the bustling San Diego, you are only 40 minutes away from downtown and the beach, including major attractions such as Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, and Sea World. Other nearby attractions include endless hiking trails, a lake with fishing and boating (about 3 miles away), horse back riding, and more.

Enjoy your master bedroom suite (the only room on the second floor) where you have your own private mountain and pond view balcony, fireplace, skylights, and waterfall shower. The downstairs bedrooms are dual rooms with a connecting bathroom (dorm style). There is also a full bath in the gym, and an outdoor shower on the deck.

Local wildlife includes: Red tailed hawks, Golden Eagles, Owls, Osprey, Coyotes, Road-runners, Wild Turkey, and many others! If you are REALLY lucky you may spot a Bobcat drinking from the pond.

This home is a very special place and we have put lots of TLC into making this a welcoming retreat for travellers and for wildlife. However, we want to make sure it is right for YOU! Please review the following advisories.

ADVISORIES:

1) Please note that to get to the house you must travel about a mile down a bumpy dirt road. Standard vehicles are just fine.. just a wee bit bumpy. May not want to bring your low clearance sports car.

2) There is weekly pool and yard maintenance which will be scheduled. Weekly cleaning is also available and will be arranged with you in advance. We will let you know the times so it will not impact your privacy.

3) The sounds of frogs and crickets may keep you awake at night. :)

4) The sunset against El Cap Mountain may take your breath away.

5) The night sky may remind you how small and insignificant we all are, or how incredible it is that we are at all.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to enchant you with our home and valley.

Why Laura Cyphert chose San Diego County

This property is a labor of love; built as our 'dream home' in 2005 after losing everything in a devastating fire in 2003. It has everything we dreamed of having; tall open ceilings, spacious floor plan, and all the amenities we could dream of. After living in this home for many years, we decided that the 3,700 square foot home was too big for just two people, and we knew the house was a perfect family vacation home. We have LOVED providing this home as a family vacation rental, and now split our time between this house and our other home, and have the best of both worlds.

What makes this house unique

Our home is extremely private and feels tucked away from the rest of the world, yet you are just a few miles from a bustling town, and a short drive to one of the largest cities in California. Enjoy complete privacy poolside with no other homes visible, and enjoy the wildlife that comes to the front yard pond. This is truly a unique location.

Peaceful and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

The home is beautiful. There are plenty things to do at the house if you dont feel like getting out doing anything. The pond outside has fish and turtles in it. The only reason why I didnt give it a 5 star is because of 2 things. The road up to the house is horrible, the road needs to be paved badly! Someone's car could fall in the ditch and get stuck. Secondly, we had no cell phone service at the house. Between 4 different carriers no one could place a call. Other than that everything was great!

Nestled into the valleys this location makes for a truly secluded getaway.

  • 4 of 5

The Native American decor adds to the true rustic and cozy environment. The local area provides ample opportunities for hiking, fishing and even hand gliding. The simplicity of waking up to a beautiful sunrise while sipping coffee and feeding the koi fish and turtles in the properties pond makes a true escape from the hustle and bustle. The backyard is fore sure to delight the whole family. Fantastic amenities within the property. Be sure to travel during daylight hours as the property was challenging to locate at night.

We had a great stay at the property. There was something for everyone to do and plenty of room.

Thanks for the great experience and stay. The kids never tired of visiting the pond to see the fish or trying to find the frogs doing all that singing at night. The jacuzzi's were both enjoyed as well as the sauna. Of course there was many a game played on the pool table too. We'll be back again next year and during the summer! Thanks again.

Great Family Vacation!

  • 4 of 5

Our stay here was awesome! The size and layout of the house was perfect! The view is awesome, great for a large group. There were so many amenities at the house that you didn't need to leave the home. The pond and Koi fish were beautiful, and we loved the fire table. There were a few problems, however, most weather related. Heavy rains caused the driveway to become very rutted. The landline went out because of the rains, and there is no cell service. (The property manager was on it and had ATT out to repair the next day.). There was no hot water for the last two days. One of the three fireplaces set off the smoke alarms three times as the smoke was pulled into the room every time an exterior door was opened. Overall, we would recommend this location for large family groups. Our experience was mostly affected by the weather. And it never rains in California.....

Best Family Trip We have EVER taken!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot stress enough how perfect this house was! We are a family of seven who came to San Diego to go to the Zoo. We arrived later in the night, so getting the house was bit scary and we were questioning our decision to come to this house. But once we pulled into the driveway we were blown away. The house itself is gorgeous and the amenities are even better. When we woke up, we had the most amazing view, this is an oasis, so peaceful and beautiful. We had a few problems with water due to the weather but Cindy was amazing and came and handled everything right away! Cindy is amazing, anything we needed she would respond within minutes and was so patient with us. One thing we enjoyed was having no cell service, our two girls are 16 and they were not happy the first night but the rest of our trip they were grateful for the fact that we had no service. We were able to connect with each other around the fire ring and spend hours in the jacuzzi. This house made our trip 100% better and we are so grateful! If you are looking for a beautiful experience then please come to this house!

Great home for a family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We spent this past weekend at the Lakeside home for the occasion of a milestone birthday. There were 6 adults and we loved that the house was large enough for us to never feel on top of each other - plenty of bathrooms for privacy, dinning room big and accommodating and a great kitchen to cook in as well. I really cant add anything that hasn't already been said by other reviews. We did have a couple of occasions where we needed guidance from Cindy the property manager and she was quick to respond and trouble shoot - no complaints. All in all a great value,
