Guestbook comments from the owner

To review this stay makes me worry someone else might be taking the weekend we will wish to book in the future as this ranch has limited accommodations. This ranch has all the amenities and modern conveniences one would need and more.

From the moment you open the private gate and are greeted by ponies and puppies you realize what a gem this place is. The grounds are wonderfully landscaped and is very dog friendly, we left ours at home but won't do that again!

Marty our host and owner is attentive and very helpful as to the fun places to visit. The sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous and the morning walk thru the property visiting the horses and baying donkeys was so fun. Kids would love this place ( very spacious and safe) and beg you to go back again soon. Couples will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and quiet beauty of the landscape. I'm surprised this place isn't booked a year in advance, that's how special it is...

Western cottage lived up to it's billing!

  • 5 of 5

The fresh air, the view, dog friendly and private makes this a hidden gem. We had a great visit, walking the ranch giving carrots to the animals was a fun experience. A true piece of Americana country living.

Magical little gem in Paso Robles!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I, and our 2 dogs had an amazing weekend at this cottage. The owners were more than accommodating & the house had everything you would need to be comfortable. The cottage is super clean & quaint. The views were stunning. Our first night we cooked in & enjoyed the breathtaking sunset with a bottle of wine on the back porch. Our dogs had a blast exploring & running about. We loved visiting the ranch animals; dogs, mini horses, donkeys & a goat! The pictures we took don't fully portray the beauty of this place. So quiet & peaceful. This retreat is perfect for anyone who LOVES animals, wants to travel with their dogs & getaway. The best thing is most of the wineries in the area are dog friendly, so forget leaving your pups behind & take them along! I think this little house is about to get a ton more bookings, as all of my friends are asking about it;) Thanks so much for everything! The Chabs & Puppies had a blast!

Awesome ranch

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with our two sons, had the pleasure of the staying at Karen's ranch a couple of weeks ago... The ranch is beautiful and guest cottage is very nice. Karen was a gracious host and I appreciate the kindness she demonstrated toward my youngest son... My boys had a great time feeding the horses, donkey and goat... During our stay we traveled to San Luis Obispo and went horseback riding which we all enjoyed...There are many wineries within a close proximity of the ranch for anyone who wants to go wine tasting.. I would recommend this property to anyone as we found it to be very clean and inviting.. We will definitely be back !!!

Great place to unplug and unwind

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was spotless and had the amenities needed for a getaway to unplug and unwind. The kitchen had a full-sized fridge, stove, and microwave with the basics needed for cooking. The back porch was great for unwinding. We had a family of four (two teenagers), and it was a bit cramped for us. There wasn't a lot of room available for luggage and clothing. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was lovely. Note that there is no television and very limited wifi at this cabin. You cannot stream video and even basic service is slow (we could check email and some websites). So, be prepared to basically go "off the grid" during your stay. :) The pull-out couch mattress was not very comfortable, so our son slept on the couch instead. The loft is quite high and may not be appropriate for younger children. Communication from the property owner was great before and during our stay - we were greeted upon arrival and provided with fresh ice. Property doggies were friendly, as were the other animals. A shaded parking spot is an added bonus. Within close driving distance to Paso Robles and wineries in the area. We also found San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay to be a reasonable drive.

Owner's Response: Hi Lynn, Thankyou so much for taking the time to write a review! I just wanted to apologize for the internet issues. We are in the country and allowed only so much data. We realized the prior guests accidentally used up the data and we did not know. It's usually pretty good, so my apologies. Also, I just looked at your reservation request and I do see 4 people. Again, my apologies. The Western Guest Cottage is really a romantic getaway for couples. We encourage families to rent our two bedroom on the same property. Occasionally we will allow small children, but due to the size, I should have redirected you to our other barn. Thank you again for the review- we appreciate you pointing this out to us. Happy trails! Karen

Exquisite open ranch luxury!

  • 5 of 5

We came to the ranch to relax with our two kids and dogs. Marty & Karen were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and at home. The sunsets and stars at night were breathtaking from the expansive deck overlooking the rolling hills. The kids enjoyed all of the friendly farm animals, exploring, the board games & horse shoe game. We enjoyed the local wine tasting and R&R. What a spectacular birthday getaway! We cannot wait to return! Thank you Karen and Marty for sharing your secret gem!

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Western Guest Cottage! We had everything we needed and spent time just relaxing on the back porch listening to the hawks and enjoying visits from the mini horses and donkey. Will definitely recommend to our friends visiting Paso Robles!
