About Nora Hubbert-property manager
While Sile and I call Brooklyn our primary residence, Sile was born and raised in County Wicklow, Ireland. Numerous trips 'home' demanded we find a 'derelict cottage' for ourselves near the family. The 'Tiger' arrived and prices skyrocketed around Dublin and into Co. Wicklow . Dejected, we went to visit friends in West Cork for a weekend.

Why Nora Hubbert-property manager chose Derry
A Saturday morning drive brought us to the site on which Derry Hill sits today. Needless to say we impulsively purchased the land the day after we saw it in 1998. By 2001 the house, designed by my brother who is a builder here in the states, was constructed but unfinished. In the summer of 2001 my two brothers and brother-in-law, and his brother arrived with partners and family to partake in a work/vacation holiday. It was hugely successful as wide pitch pine boards were laid, doors hung, trim ('architrive') nailed, garage deck constructed, and a kitchen installed.
What makes this House unique
The kitchen cabinets were designed and constructed by my brother in Connecticut and imported in a container to the site. We think the kitchen is the finest feature of the house while the wood flooring, with its wide, pitch-pine boards from Honduras, is a close second. The plan is open which allows plentiful light to fill the house. We hope you appreciate the finishing details which reflect the craftsmanship my brothers and extended crew brought to the job.

Beautiful, spacious house near Rosscarbery
Well equipped, spacious house with a great view. Four big bedrooms, three bathrooms, enough space for a family or group. It's really quiet and peaceful. The garden is beautiful. The kitchen is huge and well equipped for cooking. And there is a barbecue!
A great house to relax after exploring the beautiful area.
Easter stay in Glandore
We were two families with young children, staying together at Derry House. The house was warm, clean, and comfortable and satisfied all our needs. The playroom and the large, safe garden were put to good use. The kitchen was very well equipped, with lots of storage available for our use. The only negative point I’d make about the house was the lack of poper lined curtains in the bedrooms. The bedrooms were very bright which led to small children waking early.
Many thanks for your helpful review . We will make the curtains in the bedrooms more light resistant. Enjoy.

Very nice house with lots of room.
This house was great and we enjoyed our stay very much. Nora is a lovely person and very helpful if we had any questions. The kitchen is well equipped and plenty of space for a large group to have a nice meal together. There is also lots of space for kids to play with a separate games room. The house is located a bit of a distance out of town so plan on doing a bit of driving to go see the local sights.
Dear Bruce and family,
Many thanks for your review and we are thrilled you were able to enjoy your winter holiday in Derry. Come back again.

Lovely in every way!
What a wonderful place to be! Derry Hill is a beautiful property that has all the comforts of home! It was a great place to be to explore County Cork. We were always happy to return in the evening after our adventures. Nora was so kind and considerate, as well providing a wealth of information. And her scones are delicious! We hope to be able to come to Derry Hill again!
excellent kitchen, plenty of space, quiet location
we stayed as a family including my 90 yr old Dad. Great to have a bathroom downstairs for him and a playroom which can easily convert to a bedroom downstairs. Beautiful area surrounded by farmland and trees. It is 3 k to Roscarbery so you would need to drive as the roads are very winding and there is no footpath. The local towns of Ross. and Glandore are really lovely. Great pubs and eating places. Excellent beach near Ross. This house is a good base for travel to other local beauty spots.
Fantastic holiday home for swimmers and cooks!
Derry Hill is a beautiful well appointed and very well maintained house, which is very obviously a much cared for and loved home to its owners, as we felt very much at home ourselves as soon as we arrived. The pictures bely the sheer expanse of the property, and there was room for everyone to have their own space, which is vital on the rainy days in West Cork, of which thankfully this summer there were very few. It was perfect for our young children as all of the bed rooms are on one level, and the vital playroom meant there was down time for everyone! This house is really well situated for swimming in The Warren beach, Red Strand and Tragumna so you are never short of choice and we found that we were back to the house really quickly in the evenings with the starving masses to get the dinner on in the beautiful kitchen. Our favorite holiday memories are the family volley ball match! Cooking and baking in a kitchen fit for restaurant catering and barbecuing in the evening with sun going down over the Roury Glen.
We enjoyed the house/home so much, thanks Kenny and Sile.
Thank you so much for your generous review! We are thrilled your family appreciated Derry Hill as much as we have over the years. We love families to fill the space and keep it bustling with laughter and fun.
All the best,
Kenny and Sile
Nearby Glandore Harbor is a most scenic harbor where sailing boats large and small set anchor. Glandore Inn, tucked into a hill with the rest of the village, offers outdoor tables and chairs from which you look down at the harbor while you sip a favorite beverage, a must while the afternoon drifts into evening. Drombeg circle, an incredible remain from the Bronze Age, is a national monument and literally a two minute drive from the house on the way to Glandore. Kinsale is 40 minutes to the west and Killarney 2 hours to the northeast ( A bird could do it in 20 minutes but winding roads is the price you pay for dramatic landscapes on breathtaking peninsulas like Sheepshead and Beara ). Skibereen Golf course, a twenty minute drive, offers 18 wonderful holes. The local pitch and putt course on the Warren (our 5 star blue beach) in Rosscarbery is a par 3 course which affords an incredible view of the sea while you fine tune your short game. Clonakilty, a twenty minute drive on the N71 heading east, offers a sensational live music venue at DeBara's Pub. Hill walking, sailing, golf, fishing, horseback riding, are all very accessible and loads of fun. Excellent restaurants that use the finest local produce abound. You can not buy fresher fish anywhere that the local fish shop in Union Hall. The single lane, hair-raising bridge you cross to get into Union Hall was featured in the classic Irish film, War of the Buttons. Roury Glen, over which the house sits, is your quintessential Irish landscape.
