Modest cottage that’s centrally located for someone who wants to visit the whole island!

  • 4 of 5

Kitchen is well equipped for homemade dinners. Speaking of dinners, foodland and safeway are just a couple of steps away from the cottage - bars and restaurants are also at walkable distance. The cottage is well equipped with many beach towels, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, and more! The place was generally clean, however we spotted some baby roaches which didn’t bother us... and to be expected given the location and proximity to the beach. We had trouble getting in touch with the owner throughout our stay but managed to get by ok. Overall, we would recommend it for a budget stay in a great location!

Good location very badly maintained and extremely dirty!

  • 2 of 5

When we first showed up there was an extensive presence of cock roaches (dead and alive), dirty toilet, dirty dishes, the washing machine only half worked and the dryer took forever to dry our clothes.

Owner's Response: It’s sad that someone would go to such extremes out of lack of responsibility. There is no smoking on the property but they continue to not only smoke inside the cottage but left a large amounts of butts outside the cottage. They where very off keel about leaving on time and left a note with the language of a drunken sailor. In addition they made a gallent effort to trash the cottage with intent and would not leave on time until an hour later. It took us twice as long to clean the cottage. The washing machine and dryer are brand new. We recently had the cottage fumigated. We have had problems with baby roaches but it is being contain. It would take more than a civil tongue to share the issues we encounter with these guests

Amazing location budget amenities

  • 3 of 5

If location is important this is a great place. It is beach front and walking distance to restaurants and bars and you step off the drive way onto a running /walking path that runs along the ocean for miles. If you want luxury or deluxe this is NOT for you. A/C in only 1 of the 2 bedrooms, everything old and mismatched, bed not comfortable, bugs in the kitchen every time you turn on a light, TV not so great and neighbors behind house were loud. That said I would stay there again because of the location and privacy! If you are ok with rustic cabin and are more interested in being outside then inside this is a great place that is close to everything.

Very quaint and clean but needs a little work here and there.

  • 3 of 5

Location is very convenient and the view from the front porch is wonderful. Ocean is just down the driveway. Cottage was clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. But to be honest the front door sticks and I needed to use some force to open it. The floor in the bathroom is in need of repair but the plumbing works great. The video player didn't work and we were unable to access Netflix and only 4 channels on TV. But the owner said he'd get that fixed. Larry was very nice and provided good info about the area. He was very willing to help with any thing we needed but was not under foot.

Almost perfect.

My husband and I just stayed at week here celebrating my 50th birthday. It was a delightful stay. Breakfast on the front porch, watching the sunrise, listening to and watching the waves. Watching the rain was also wonderful. The cabin is decorated so nicely. I preferred the light green room. I read in there with the window open, while listening to the waves, and enjoying the breeze and view. Going for walks from the cabin was pleasant too, then having the spigot for rinsing sand off before entering the cozy home was helpful.

Also helpful was the central location of the cabin whether heading south or north, it was convenient.

We cooked on the stove in the morning or when we returned home, or used the crock pot in the morning to come home to a nice stew after a fun day kayaking, hiking, swimming, helicopter rides, touring, shopping, tubing, snorkeling, dining out, church, walking for ice cream or whatever. The cabin includes very comfy beach towels, boogie boards, cooler, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, etc. We shopped at Foodland or Safeway. There were also lots of books to choose from to relax with too. And the a/c worked very well. The water pressure in the shower was very nice with a large shower head overhead, with large comfy towels.

There were only a couple small glitches with the cabin. The HDMI cord to the DVD player didn't work. Also, I didn't know one of the clothes washers didn't work til after I put my laundry and soap in it, and then had to transfer it all the the other. Then, I transferred all the wet laundry to a drier to discover it also didn't work. Transferred it to the 2nd drier to learn it didn't work either. Hung the laundry on the line then, but it was so humid they didn't really dry after two days. Also, the front door has expanded because of the humidity. It was a challenge to open and shut some times. But, those little glitches wouldn't be enough to prevent me from considering staying there again. It was really a comfortable, enjoyable cabin.

Good, not great

  • 3 of 5

I really hate to not leave glowing reviews but since I really rely on reviews when choosing a place to stay, I’ll leave my honest opinion. The home was clean and in a great location, right across from the beach where monk seals beached 3 of the 5 mornings we were there. That was a huge hit with the kids. There was what appeared to be transients living in cars along the side of the road and sometimes loud gatherings across the street. Unfortunately this seems to just be the way it is. No fault of the owners at all and wasn’t a huge deal. I just wouldn’t feel comfortable with the kids being out there alone. Larry informed us that the dryer was broken and he was waiting for an electrician to fix it but he would be willing to dry our stuff for us. He also let us know that he was gone a lot and just call if we needed anything. Since we packed light to save money on checked luggage, expecting a washer/dryer, laundry was a big deal for us. When I called Larry to see if he could dry some stuff for us, there was no answer and his VM was full. We ended up doing laundry and just drying on the rack out back but then our clothes were stiff. The pillows were all pretty hard. I ended up going to WalMart and buying a softer pillow. It would be nice to have a couple extras with different softness to choose from. All in all, it was a good trip but we wouldn’t stay there again.
