Canadian living in Zurich Switzerland

Great location, the pool was fantastic, but the house needs a makeover

  • 2 of 5

We are a Canadian family who has been living in Europe for 7 years and using VRBO and HomeAway a lot! Lilian was responsive to our needs, however apon arival all the white towels were wet and and hanging on the drying rack. They were stained and grey not clean, I had to bleach and rewash all. We are pretty easy going people but this place definetly needs a makeover the pictures on the site are quite old maybe 2012? And it'seems like they have let the place go. The wifi never really worked, Lilian told us to turn off our phone at night to be able to gain enough data during the day but it didn't work, and we used my husband's hotspots instead. The house had a strange smell the whole time, mildew like. It's a hot climate and we have stayed in Begur before and our place then did not have that smell. The furniture and carpets in main room are stained and dirty. Teatowels and bath mats are stained and or ripped, or falling apart. The house is very private and the deck was lovely. The grounds are beautiful and the house is easily accessible to the ocean by foot.

This house has amazing potential it just needs some TLC.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you did not find the house at its best. Conditions also depend on the amount of time we have to fix the problems caused by the guests staying before. We have done our best to send you our cleaning staff imediately back on site but they have not been able to find you at the house to solve your priblems. It would have also be more honest to make your overall rating more consistent with the total of your comments.

Fantastic family holiday near hidden beaches

  • 5 of 5

Lilian's house was well located to all the places we as tourists wanted to discover. The infinity communal pool was beautiful and never crowded. We enjoyed to relax and enjoy the view. The kitchen has all equipments we needed (except peeler) and we had a breakfast and dinner on the balcony almost everyday. We recommend everyone who like to explore the area of Begur and will definitely come back!

We had a blast!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous house! Fantastic location . Really easy to deal with the owner . We had a blast and we would always return to this location. We are a young couple from the US , in our late 20's . We were probably the youngest people around everywhere we go which made it it quite interesting . We walked to the beach from the house and also to restaurants .

A truly idyllic spot!

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for us: clean, well appointed, spacious and perfectly located. Lilian was great to deal with and prompt to respond to any questions. Ana was lovely and had everything ready for our arrival. There was plenty of room in the living areas for us not to be on top of each other, although when at the house we spent most of our time on the balcony overlooking pine-covered hills and the Mediterranean. The cliff walk to Aiguafreda and Sa Tuna was beautiful where swimming was in tranquil rocky coves. Sandy beaches at Sa Riera and Platja del Raco are just a few minutes drive away. Aigua Blava was 10 minutes by car and we had an introductory diving lesson there that made us all want to get our scuba certification (we even saw an octopus). The beaches in this part of the Med. are clean and the water perfectly clear and full of interesting marine life. The weather was unusually cool and windy so one day we went to Empurias saw the Greek and Roman ruins and then walked over to the beach. Girona is a lovely city only an hour's drive with the Dali castle at Pubols on the way as well as the ceramic center of La Bisbal d'Emporda. Barcelona is about a two hour drive. Begur is a charming town which offers all the food shopping you need as well as a very helpful tourist office. We ate in most nights just because we liked the view but had a great meal at the Hotel Sa Tuna. Also, we found a great vineyard on the road to Pals. And finally, the swimming pool was to die for - an infinity pool with the most fantastic view. No, we were not ready to leave and yes, we would love to go back!

Excellent Vacation Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Lilian's townhouse was a fabulous place for a family to rent for a vacation near Begur. Aiguadafreda is a stunning, secluded cove and ideal location. There is a terrific walking path from the complex to the beach at Sa Tuna. The tennis court provided an added activity for our 3 children and the community pool was also a fun place to relax with the most spectacular views of the sea. We would definitely stay here again and recommend the home to anyone. The living area and kitchen are very spacious and the rooms all comfortable and clean. Loved having a washer and dryer for cleaning up the ice cream mishaps!

About Lilian Gaichies

French family living in Paris. This is our second home. We travel a lot and spend some time for work in the US.

Lilian Gaichies purchased this house in 2011

Why Lilian Gaichies chose Begur

We have family in the area and have been living in Spain and Catalonia years ago. We discovered this place renting a house for our holidays and fell in love with the site. We love the area, the sea and the hills around, as well as the local peaople and traditions.

What makes this house unique

Our house is ideally located in a small cove that let you enjoy the sea, the pine forest around and the village attractions in the same day and in within a 5 minute walking or driving range so forget about difficulties to park or traffic jams going to the beach. The terrace has a very peacefull view to the trees and the hills, and a little side view to the sea enven in the busiest days of the season you can enjoy having dinner outside.
