There is even an opportunity to take a ride on a pirate ship. Want more? Just a short boat ride takes you to a lift that will hoist your boat over a dam to let you experience the lakes in Three Lakes Chain. The Eagle River-Three Lakes Chain make up the largest freshwater chain of lakes in the world.
Don’t have your own boat? Included in your rental of Cranberry Pines is a paddleboat, rowboat, canoe and 2 kayaks. We supply 6 universal and 2 youth size life jackets for our guests to use. There are several places to rent a boat/pontoon as well. There is a ladder for swimming off the pier or a small sandy bottom area in front of the boat launch. Relax by the large fire pit to wind down the perfect day – we supply firewood and you bring the marshmallows!
Whether it’s a family vacation, guys fishing or golf trip or a couples getaway, Cranberry Pines has everything you will need to make great memories.

We had an awesome stay. Caught lots of fish right off the dock. We have already booked our stay for next year! Highly recommend.

Wonderful Stay!
We had a wonderful week away up North at Cranberry Pines! The property was clean, spacious and right on the water. We enjoyed days boating (access to several lakes on the chain), fishing (my husband caught about 10 fish right off the pier!), and hiking in nearby parks. At night we enjoyed cooking in the full kitchen (has everything you need), grilling and relaxing by the bonfire and on the large front porch. Saw deer in the yard most mornings. Dave and Diane were gracious hosts. Dave even helped us get our boat in the water at the boat launch, which was much appreciated for us first-timers. We definitely will be back in the future and would highly recommend this property to those looking for the perfect stay in the Eagle River area.

Our week at Cranberry Pines
We enjoyed our week at the house; it was an excellent getaway. The house is fully stocked with cooking items, along with a grill. Dave did a great job remodeling the bathroom! The lakes are great; fishing was very good even for late June. We had a few campfires, and enjoyed our time on the covered porch. Dave and Diane are very kind, hospitable, and very responsive. We couldn’t have asked for more.

About the host

Hosted by Dave & Diane Butchart

Hi - we are Dave and Diane Butchart. We met on a blind date the summer of 1982 and will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this August. We have 2 sons, Mike and Nick who have enjoyed coming "up north" since they were born; however, our German Shorthair dog Chloe loves the north woods more than any of us.

Why they chose this property

In 1962, Dave's grandparents, Ace and Eva Kenney purchased 7 acres of land and 300 feet of frontage on Cranberry Lake. They choose this particular piece of water front because Eva loved the solitude and to be able to see land not too far over the water. It was then that they started envisioning their dream of building a resort, which become known as Kenney's Resort. The property consisted of a year round home and the "big" and "little" cottages. The love of Cranberry Lake and the Eagle River area was instilled in Dave by his grandparents from his earliest childhood memories of sitting on his grandpa's lap in the old red pickup truck and helping his grandma clean the cottages and get the boats ready for the next set of renters. Upon their death, Dave's family inherited the home and the cottages were sold. Years later, we now own the home and in the fall of 2014, we were presented the opportunity to buy the "big" cottage". Ace and Eva's dream was to share their little slice of heaven with those who rented from them and we are proud to carry on their dream. In that spirit, we would like to share what's now known as Cranberry Pines with you.

What makes this property unique

You now know why this place means so much to us, but here are some little things that make it special. While there is knotty pine throughout the entire cabin, the knotty pine used in the original part of the cabin was milled from trees on the property. With the addition of the great room and covered porch, it's a very comfortable and inviting place to visit and we strive to make you feel at home from the moment you walk through the door. Another favorite of ours are the many birds and animals we see every day. Whether it's hummingbirds that frequent the feeder outside the picture window, the Eagles nesting across the water, the deer meandering through the yard or the loons calling in the evening, you will have plenty of opportunities to connect with nature. Whether it's time spent bonding with family or friends around the campfire or spending time on the water, we hope you choose to join us at Cranberry Pines.
