The property sits on a cliff high above Nolin lake. Come & enjoy the outdoor living space with two screened in porches, gas fire pit, in ground fire pit with fire wood and two tables that seat 8. Private deck on the 2nd level.
It is a relaxing get-a-way but is also close to attractions of interest for the whole family. Theme Parks, water parks, & Beech Bend race track, Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace National Park, cave tours at Mammoth Cave National Park, Cave City, Kentucky Down Under Zoo, Lost River Cave, Corvette Museum, Horse back riding, trail parks, frisbee park and golf courses. There are Amish stores & country stores along with restaurants as close as one mile. You can see Wax Marina from the deck. Bourbon Trails and Churchill Downs are an hours drive away.
Access down to the lake for fishing or swimming in the "No Wake Zone" is partially through a natural path managed by the US Corp of Engineers as are all shorelines at Nolin Lake. This path has to remain undeveloped to stay compliant with the Corp's regulations.
The walk back to the house from the water is all up hill. We are in our 60's and don't have a problem with it but for those with physical challenges it may be difficult due to the grade. There are labeled pictures of the path on our site. If the climb is a challenge we recommend going to Iberia Beach and Boat Ramp at Nolin Lake only a 3 mile car drive from the lake house. It has a clean sand beach and is an easy walk to the water.
The lake was built for flood control by the US Corp of Engineers in the 1960's. The Corp begins water level draw down in mid to late October every year. Once the water reaches winter pool only the river bed allows for boating. You can still fish the river from the lake bed. When the lake bed behind the house dries we love to go adventure seeking for treasures new and old. Winter here at Nolin Lake is great for hiking and metal detecting buffs will love winter here. Never a bad time of year in Kentucky.
