|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This lovely cabin has everything you need to relax, enjoy Icelandic nature, and to have a good time with family and friends. The location is perfect as it is just 45.min away from Reykjavík city, close to the Golden Circle and Thingvellir, and it is also conveniently located about 15. minutes from Selfoss town where you can get all the nessasery service. There are lots of fun things to do and see in the area. The Cabin is surrounded by spectacular Icelandic nature and is on a really peaceful private land.
It has 4 spacious bedrooms, 2 located on the main floor and 2 on the second floor On the second floor the rooms have tv and dvd´s . The kitchen area is spacious and is open to the living room. The kitchen has all the kitchen tools that you might need. There is a nice, big couch in the living room where people can relax, read a book or watch TV / DVD.
The cabin has a washer and a dryer for your convenience and also a dishwasher.
The Cabin has a big patio around it with a nice table and chairs, a grill for the chef! and a hot tub for outdoor enjoyment. There are swings and outdoor toys in the yard for the children, and a trampoline! And a wonderful view;)
The Cabin was built 2009 and is perfect for all year around stay!
My name is Sandra and me and my husband own the cabin at Víðbrekka. We have 3.children from 4-10.years old.
When we bought the cabin it had been under construction but nothing had been done for some time. So when we got the cabin it was nothing in it but dirt and walls. So i can say candidly that the cabin is our work . We built it from inside so you can get to know us a little when you stay there ;)
In August 2015 we moved to Spain. We are so lucky that Ágústa my aunt is taking care of the cabin for us and you will be so lucky to meet her when you come to our cabin. We ask our guest to pick a good rental car, and in the winter it has to be a 4x4 car. Not just to drive to the cabin but just to drive in Iceland in the winter!
Sandra purchased this cabin in 2009
We love to stay at our lovely cabin as our family and friends! This is where we go to relax and enjoy. It´s a perfect place to stay all year around. The cabin stands in a hill that´s called Búrfell. There is a great view from the cabin but if you are coming in the winter we ask our guests to rent a good rental car, and in the winter you need a 4x4 car. Not just to drive to the cabin but also just in Iceland!! You never know how the weather will be but as we local say "If you don´t like the weather just wait a little" ;) When you stay at our cabin we surely hope you like your stay!
The view is wonderful any time of the year!
It´s a perfect place to be at in the south because it´s not far from Reykjavík, close to all service and fun things to do or see is all around the cabin.
We had an amazing stay at this cabin and can highly recommend it if you're looking for a super comfortable place at a very convenient location. This house has everything you can wish for, and you can tell that a lot of care and thought has been put into it. You are made to feel at home all the way from the beginning of the booking, with Sandra's kind and prompt emails; all through the end of your stay with the interaction with the lovely house managers.
Heated floors, plenty of movies to choose from (great for relaxing at night), a delicious hot tub right outside your door and a very convenient location made this a perfect choice for our Iceland vacation. The house is only 15 minutes from Selfoss, an easy 45 minute drive from Reykjavik and wonderful if you're planning on doing to golden circle. There's a large grocery store in Selfoss, very convenient and open every day.
When we arrived we met the (super friendly) house manager who kindly gave us a GPS that took us straight to the house, and an Icelandic phone. The only "hiccup" we had during our stay was solved almost immediately - the USB which is used for internet access was missing, but he was incredibly responsive and had a wifi box ready for us within less than a couple of hours. The wifi worked flawlessly by the way, we had no issues whatsoever. The house manager also kindly met us at 4:30am the morning we left - we had an early flight and arranged to meet so we could give the keys back. And even though it was very early morning, we were greeted with a smile!
We're a family of three and ended up using only the downstairs, but there's enough room for a lot more people: two bedrooms upstairs - two single beds in one; and a double plus a single and a crib in the other one (with a great little balcony for beautiful views! I imagine watching the northern lights from here - or from the hot tub - would be a wonderful treat. Unfortunately it was quite cloudy and we didn't get that lucky with the weather, but you might!) Downstairs there are two bedrooms (one with a large king bed, and the other one which sleeps 4 people). The bathroom and laundry room are also on that level. The kitchen is great! You're welcome to use what's in the cupboards, and everything else you could want - if you enjoy cooking you will love the stove (I did!). There's no freezer but we didn't miss it too much, it just meant we had to eat all our ice cream at once! Absolutely perfect stay!
Our family of 4 (my husband, our son and my mother) spent a week in this beautiful cabin in Iceland this August 2016. The cabin itself is really well located, close to the major touristic locations in the Golden Circle, a 15-20 min. drive to Selfoss where you'll find a great public pool, restaurants and groceries, and at the same time it's on a small private road so it's super quiet. Perfect to visit during the day, explore the area and come back at the cabin to relax, have dinner with the family and enjoy the scenery! The cabin has all you need and a lot of space for the 4 of us. Our 6-year old boy enjoyed playing around the house on the lava rocks and the lichen, while the adults enjoyed the spa! One thing to mention is that the house does require a bit of maintenance (shower door, dishwasher door, some lights missing...) but nothing to prevent us from having a great time. We would definitely recommend it! Thanks again Sandra.
We had a wonderful 8 day stay in this comfortable and homely property. Prior to our arrival we had several communications with Sandra who answered all our emails promptly and in a friendly manner. When we arrived we were met in Selfoss by Agusta who gave us a SatNav that took us straight to the house. The location is excellent; every major sight is within approx 1 hour's drive except Jokulsarlon / Fjallsarlon which is about an easy 4 hour drive in each direction (but so, so worth it😀).
After a day exploring Gulfoss, Kerio crater, Geysir, the Blue Lagoon, the Secret Lagoon or Pingvellir we loved to return to the cabin for a BBQ and a few minutes in the hot tub. It was always the perfect relaxing end to exciting days. Everything that we needed was at the cabin and we were extremely comfortable. There were just two small points that renters should be aware of; there is no freezer - not a big deal but good to know before you stock up on ice cream (!) and the stairs to the upper level are steep - we sent the teenagers to sleep up there! We loved the open plan nature of the cabin. It was possible to prepare food in the kitchen area. and still be part of the conversation while others were sitting on the very comfy sofa. The deck was huge with great views and the BBQ was excellent quality and easy to use. Selfoss was an easy 15 minute drive and we bought groceries in Kronan. The quality of food there was very good. Agusta also directed us to a Fisk bud on the left as you drive from Selfoss towards Eyrarabakki. The quality of the fish there was outstanding!
We can honestly say that we loved the cabin and its location. We relaxed, explored, ate great food and enjoyed the hot tub on our trip. We would recommend this cabin to anyone wishing to spend time around the Golden Circle.
Thank you, Sandra, for your hospitality and for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. The next time we come it will be to see the Northern Lights😀
The cabin had plenty of room for our group of 7. It has great views and we enjoyed sitting in the hot tub. The home is nicely decorated and has lots of kitchen supplies. The home does need a deep cleaning and some maintenance repairs to different parts of the home. However, it did not spoil our stay and would recommend this cabin! Thank you for being part of our trip of a lifetime.
Loved our stay. The cabin had everything and Sandra was so very helpful. Wonderful place to explore the south! Thank you Sandra for sharing this place!
We stayed at this property in a snowy February. When we arrived from the UK an picked up our hire car - the owner, Sandra met up with us. It was late and the road to the cabin had been closed due to bad weather. Sandra was brilliant and booked us into a nearby hotel for the night and supplied us with takeaway!
The next morning we drove to the cabin which sits on the end of a private road overlooking a fabulous view. The cabin itself is quite large especially with just the two of us.
We are usually hotel travellers, so not used to this kind of rental. Is this comparable to a hotel? Well, no not at all. The drawers have 'stuff' in, there are child's toys around, food in the cupboards and DVDs ready for a rainy day. It is a lived in family home, which can only enhance an experience of being in Iceland.
The property is located literally just off the Golden Circle so Þingvellir is just down the road, and the likes of Geysir and Gullfoss are within easy reach. If you fancy another day trip in the car you can go down the south coast past Vik and up to Jökulsárlón and see the glacier ice washed up on the beach.
I would defiantly recommend staying here. We hope to again soon! Sandra was amazingly helpful and gave us very useful advice on things to do.
She can't make the Aurora happen for you though, but fortunately we were treated to that as well one night - right over the cabin.
Our lovely Cabin is perfectly located as a starting point for all the main attractions and sightseeing in South of Iceland. Þingvellir, Golden Circle and Kerið to name a few are only a few min. away.
Golf, Horse-riding, fishing, orgnic farm and warm swimmingpool with a slide are in the area. The town Selfoss is only a 10-15min drive. There you can find all the nessasery service. Behind the Cabin is mountain Búrfell. It has a wonderful view and is fun to go hiking and after the day just relax in the hot tub.
