Built in 2012--. This nearly new hand-hewn log home is made from massive logs and is a work of art. Rustic logs, covered porch and wraparound deck give you a feeling that you are a part of nature.

The interior has warm pine and log walls, stone fireplace and accents combined with all the modern conveniences to make a relaxing stay.

It is set on 11 private wooded acres on a hillside above Beaver Creek which meanders through a lush meadow below. The creek is on the property and attracts wildlife year round. National Forest is just steps away, Herds of buffalo and elk are can be seen just 1 mile down the road in Wind Cave park or 6 miles away in Custer State Park.

This cabin is located 1.5 miles east of HWY 87 (Needles Highway) that runs north and south through Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park and is just west of the border between the two parks.

The home has 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths.

The main level has a full kitchen, dining area and living room with high log beamed ceilings, view windows, cozy stone fireplace and patio doors to a wrap around deck. Master bedroom and bath are on the main level with patio doors to a private deck.

About Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager

I've lived in the Custer area for 13 years and am a South Dakota native. After living out of state for 18 years, I returned to South Dakota for a more peaceful life.

Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Jody Landgrebe Owner/Manager chose Black Hills

I vacationed in the Custer area as a child, and returned to it because I've found the Custer area to be the perfect blend of rustic country living, beautiful scenery and friendly people. The town of Custer has all the shopping, restaurants and entertainment that anyone could possibly need without the frenzy of fast food, Walmarts and traffic that frazzle city folks lives.

What makes this cabin unique

I love this cabin's location, near Custer State Park and Wind Cave National park. Just 1.5 mile east is the back entrance to Wind Cave Park at an area where you can generally find herds of Buffalo and Elk. The cabin itself is very private as it is not visible from the road. Near dusk and dawn you can sometimes see elk at the front of the property near the creek area.

Nice upscale place

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Thanksgiving and there was no snow. Great property to walk around on. Deer rabbits and other critters there every day. House was well equipped with everything you needed. Lots of space for 8 of us to spread out and disconnect for a weekend. Definitely a step up from other properties we have rented in the Black Hills. No close neighbors and dark and quiet at night. Just the way it should be :-)

Perfect setting for a Black Hills vacation.

  • 5 of 5

From the first communication to the final follow-up, Jody and her property were great. Everything was as described and better. The secluded property had all the amenities for which we could have hoped, all in very good condition and enough space to house our family with room to spare for many more. As expected, nature was at our doorstep and the location was perfect for Wind Cave and easy drives to Custer and beyond. If you are looking for restaurants a short walk down the street, plan to stay in one of the towns. If you are looking to get away from that after you've visited them, then choose this property!

We went to Wind Caves, horseback riding in Custer State Park, Badlands, Crazy horse, Mt Rushmore, Sylvan Lake, Deadwood, Train ride to Keystone, Buffalo Roundup, the Needles, a chuck wagon dinner and much more.
