Our home is located right on the water in Oak Creek Canyon and is just 4 miles from up town Sedona! The creek is stocked with Rainbow Trout if fishing is your thing....and the deck has a grill and eating area if you want to grill it! Not into cooking, a great deli/store that also serves breakfast is located right across the road. Enjoy long strolls on the forest service road that is right outside your door. Hiking of all levels is abundant in the canyon and swimming/tubing in the creek during warmer months is a wonderful way to spend your day! And, Slide Rock is just a few miles down the road. If shopping, golfing, gambling, dining, four-wheeling or sight-seeing is your thing, you are only minutes away to everything Sedona and Northern Arizona has to offer including the wild animal park, Bearizona and Indian ruins. And, if you've never been or want to go again, we are close enough for a day-trip to the Grand Canyon too!
We, Angelo and Barbara, are partners in life (married 30 years) as well as partners in business. At one time, we owned and operated a Food Service Brokerage business in the Phoenix area. But 'wised up' and moved to beautiful Sedona where we now are licensed realtors with Coldwell Banker First Affiliate.
Barbara Pancrazio purchased this cottage in 2004
Having lived up high on a hill in the canyon many years, we longed to live on the creek. So in 2004, we found what we consider to be the best spot in Arizona and loving it ever since, our Cottage on Oak Creek! Barbara's parents developed and opened Rainbow Trout Farm in the early 1960's which is located just south of the cottage so this is home! Angelo was a 'city boy', originally from Chicago, but now you can't get him out of his jeans and the country lifestyle.
Mother Nature provides many pleasures for us to enjoy year around in Oak Creek Canyon. The snow fall in the winter is just enough to satisfy our need to see it fall and then it melts within a day or so. We must admit, however, that when spring comes, we can hardly wait to have cocktail hour on the back deck overlooking Oak Creek. Wild life is everywhere and we have been privileged to see eagles, blue heron flying overhead, deer on the back road and even a skunk swimming in the creek. And yet, a great deli is just across the street and uptown Sedona is only 4 miles away! What's not to love!
We loved staying in the cottage on Oak Creek. We have stayed in many cottages and resorts in Oak Creek through the years and this one is a firm favorite. The large deck over the creek is the most awesome feature and we spent most of our time there. The house inside is luxurious and comfortable. Nice on the eyes but cozy to relax in. Great appliances and has everything you need, from a smart tv, dvd player, satellite, to spices, dishes, utensils, towels, detergents, books, cd's, board games etc. Just bring clothing and food. The cabin is very clean and the beds are super comfortable to sleep in. It has a sense of privacy and the sound of the river ads to the tranquility. It is close to all major Sedona attractions, yet far enough from the maddening crowd. A big plus for us was that the rental is pet friendly. The owner, Barbara, is very professional and manages the rental very well. We also appreciated free use of the red rock pass. Thank you Barbara, we travel often and would love to book again in future.
The cottage is comfortable and it has a great kitchen. I loved the location - it's a little bit out of town and there is traffic, but it's worth it to enjoy this amazing piece of paradise.
The cottage is in a perfect location, out of town but not too far and right on the creek. Great kitchen with new appliances and fully updated. Very cosy and warm, some of the furniture could use updating for comfort, but otherwise very nice. The owner is very accommodating and was extremely helpful during a brief power outage (entire canyon was out for while, nothing to do with the house or location), she even tried to find alternate accommodations if the outage persisted. Fortunately it returned late in the day. Would definitely stay there again!
The cottage was everything we expected...and more. You could see the creek from the back patio and it was very soothing to sit and watch and listen. Its location is good because you are out of the hustle and bustle of Sedona...but yet very convenient..about 4 miles from Uptown Sedona. Barbara was a most gracious and conscientious hostess and was quick to respond to any emails or phone requests.
We arrived at the cottage after dark and Hwy 89A is very dark leaving Uptown Sedona towards the cottage..so it is best to arrive before dark. We saw this 'warning' in a previous review, but were detained in Phoenix and didn't get to the cottage until after dark. The driveway to the gate is right across the highway from a little market and the signage for Indian Creek is difficult to see.
Everything was very much as described. There was plenty of linens for the baths and bedrooms and the kitchen appliances were great for in home cooking. There were clear instructions for using the property which made our stay more enjoyable. My only warning would be not to arrive after dark in the winter.
Oak Creek Canyon , where our home is located, is just outside of Sedona which has been named as one of the most beautiful places on Earth! Outdoor activities include Slide Rock which is a natural water rock 'slide' created through eons of years by the running waters of Oak Creek as well as a plethora of hiking trails. Sedona features many restaurants, shopping, outdoor activities and natural red rock scenery. This area is known for the Native American wares available as well as its Fine Arts. A short drive will take you to Jerome, a ghost town and historic copper mining community, that is now a fun-filled sight-seeing destination. So much to do!
