Don't want to spend the night in a cold wet tent? But... don't want to break the bank either? We completely understand.
That is why we added this economy cabin to our options. You will get clean dry private accommodations without the cost of the other cabins in the area. and best of all... NO TENT to deal with.
This is a one room cabin that is best for two people.
There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and one burner hot plate for your food fixing.
There is an electric fireplace for heat and shade and 3000 ft elevation for cooling.
The bed is a comfy queen size sofa bed.
There is also a complete bath inside the cabin with toilet sink and shower.
Outside there is a picnic table and fire pit coming soon, so that you don't have to give up the advantages of camping.
You have never had a better place to camp for this price!
I am a west Virginia resident for 26 years. I live in the Seneca Rocks area and love sharing the beauty of the area with others.
Kent & Cynthia purchased this cabin in 2011
This property was built because all of the nice secluded places to stay in the area are above 100.00 per night. I know times are hard for some people that do not like sleeping in a tent so this was made to provide a great place for those kind of people.
Small, clean and cozy. Inexpensive. Close to lots of the best of West Virginia's most scenic area.
This cabin was everything we needed! Definitely only enough space for 1-2 people. The cabin was clean, private, quiet, away from major roads, had great heat and electricity, but close driving distance to all major attractions. Owners were very nice people every time we spoke on the phone! Couldn't ask for a more perfect experience. The cabin is in no way "roughing it" but you're in the woods. You have lights, heat, restroom, coffee machine, pots and pans. Definitely nicer than some hotel rooms i've been in. There are also two other cabins nearby that are a little bigger and could fit more people.
You should definitely consider the "Via Ferrata" hike at Nelson Rocks (less than 10 minute drive from cabin). Great experience, beautiful views, cool people, and they have free wifi in their lobby!
*The only issue we had was the lack of Cell Phone Service for Verizon wireless in the region. We eventually found out that we could get cell Service 30 minutes away on Rt 33 in Petersburg or an hour and a half away on Rt 33 in Virginia.
Our lack of cell service was initially a problem for us because we were detoured en route due to a police road block in Virginia. We got in to town way later than expected and from a different route than we initially planned (and hence kind of lost our initial driving bearings). We lost cell phone service an hour and a half away in Virginia but somehow our phone GPS still guided us to the given address (something on Riverton Rd). The given riverton road address was NOT the address of the cabin and we felt a little lost at first and had no way to make a call or renavigate the GPS. We eventually were able to find the Gateway Diner and navigate to the cabin from there (using directions previously emailed from the owners). My suggestions to avoid this issue. 1) Be aware of the lack of cell service. 2) Print out and/or screen shot all of your iphone/gps directions ahead of time while you have service. 3) Try to get in town before it's dark so you can navigate easier and stop anywhere that might be open for help. 4) Once you get a feel for the main landmarks and the major roads the area is not difficult to navigate.
Thanks again for hosting us, we would certainly love to return! :)
Fantastic location and a great cabin for weekend getaway. Stayed a week in the cabin and the sofabed became uncomfortable. Very clean!
We are very thankful to the owners for this luxurious vacation in the mountains! This small cabin perfect for two had everything we needed and much more! The firepit and charcoal grill were especially handy to have. The cabin's location was right below one of the grandest attractions of WV, Spruce Knob! One top of that, the Gateway Restaurant provided us tasty affordable meals when we became tired of our picnic food! We highly recommend to all couples this cozy little forest cabin.
The cabin and property were exactly as advertised. Very clean cabin. Perfect for my fishing trip. I had a very relaxing visit.
You honestly can't ask for a better place to get away from it all - well maintained cabin and very hospitable owners who were great with communication and make it very easy to set up a visit - you just cannot beat the value and my girlfriend and I will definitely be coming back again in the future - awesome visit all around so THANK YOU Kent and Cynthia!
We are the closest cabin rental to Spruce Knob. The highest peak in the state. There are miles of hiking trails and thousands of acres of wilderness. The closest must see to the cabin is The Nelson Rocks preserve just a couple miles away. The have amateur climbing as well as Zip Lining available. Seneca Rocks and more climbing and hiking are very close. Trout fishing is also close by. Skiing and many other things are with in a 60 minute drive.
