It was a lovely stay — the view was picturesque, plenty of space, and a clean working crib for baby, who had her own room. Having two places to shower was a huge plus. The hill to arrive at the property guarantees daily exercise, and helps justify the amount of ice cream we ate on a daily basis. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
Thank you Sophie
I’ll be glad to host you again with your nice family.
Really nice apartment and stunning views
Had a great time at the apartment with great views overlooking cassis.
Very nice guests! I recommend them.
Safety hazard make this flat not worth it even if great location
The flat is in a great location- up the hill from the port town and one of the main public beaches (approx 10 min walk down and 20 min walk up) - and the apartment complex is great for families. However I cannot recomend this actual property after we were locked into the apartment due to a defective lock on the door. The owner was not at all concerned when we tried to reach her as we struggled to get out of the flat- two stories above ground level- and later admonished us for leaving the windows and doors to the balcony open which must have created a wind tunnel forcing the door to the flat to slam... When it was more likely that our kids had stepped out and let the door shut too quickly behind them. In any event regardless of how the door was slammed I think it is a safety hazard to have a door that easily locks in place with a deadbolt that cannot be disengaged by hand. The deadbolt-like lock fell off the pin and engaged an additional lock in the floor so we were trapped.
We were able to thankfully free ourselves by unscrewing the lock apparatus from the door and then were able to disengage the floor lock. It was terrifying as three of our four kids were locked outside of the apartment at the time and it took what seemed like forever to find a screwdriver. Afterwards we learned from neighbors that this is not the first time there has been trouble with the lock.
The owner then charged us for her 'locksmith' to simply put the broken lock back on the door. I purposefully did not reattach the floor lock because there was already a regular lock that worked just fine and I didn't want to risk being locked in again. When I complained to the owner about the charge she indicated she could Easily take out more of my deposit for a conversion fee because my credit card was not French- despite the fact my credit card was charged in euros and I paid a conversion fee already to my credit card company and the fact that the vrbo website did not indicate anything about paying an additional fee for using a charge card. I found her threat quite shady. Again it is a lovely complex and Cassis is wonderful to visit but I cannot in good conscience recomend this place knowing that the door's security bolt so easily engages inadvertently with only the slightest pressure on the door and the owner seems to not care or wants to only blame it on the wind.
It is not true that I was not concerned. I phoned to tell where is a screw driver and I asked a professional to come and he repaired the lock which is new now. But it is true that the wind mistral can be very strong and you have to be very careful. Carolyn did not seem to be very careful and let the apartment very very dirty
A must stay
We stayed at this beautiful property in april for 4days.
It is exactly as advertised.
Booking through homeaway was easy.
Practically everything you need in a home and more.
House is clean, spacious, and well thought out.
So if you need great place in cassis
I am happy that you enjoyed the place and I would be happy to welcome you again.
The property and location was everything it listed. The owner was prompt in answering all our questions before arrival and gave us a very good overview when we arrived. She left breakfast for us the first morning and met us very early on our departure day as we had an early flight. I would highly recommend this property and would love to return.
Appartement agréable et fonctionnel et calme
le trajet centre ville appartement est rendu difficile à pieds en raison de la situation de logement sur les hauteurs de Cassis
Calanques Natural Park, exceptional climbing site. very nice swimming
The Calanques massif constitutes a particular ecosystem. The soil is almost nonexistent, the limestone cliffs extended by scree are crossed by many faults and cracks in which the roots of plants are anchored.
The massif attracts many tourists and hikers all year round thanks to the wide choice of trails hanging between the sea and the tortuous reliefs. Many climbing sites have been equipped there since the 1970s: these creeks are one of the most beautiful rock climbing areas in France. The GR 51 crosses most of those found in Provence.
Very beautiful old and preserved small fishing port
Located between Cassis and La Ciotat is one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe whose highest point, 399 meters, is located in La Ciotat above the semaphore. These 11 km of coastline have 2 classified sites: the Calanques massif since 1975 and the Cap Canaille since 1989. These two sites and the city are visible from the top of the Route des Crêtes connecting Cassis to La Ciotat.
Cassis is linked to Marseille only 20 km away by another beautiful crest road, the Gineste, which overlooks the creeks and the sea.
Blackcurrant is a wine with a controlled designation of origin, produced in the commune. It was the first AOC recognized in Provence in 1936 and one of the oldest wine-growing places in France. The vine already existed on the site of Marseilles and its surroundings even before the landing (around 600 BC) of the Greek sailors (the Phocaeans).
