Brisbane CBD: Just the Right Amount of Action

Affectionately known as Brisbane City by locals, the central business district is full of hustle, bustle and just the right amount of activity for a great time. The CBD is located in the heart of Brisbane, which is the capital of Queensland, Australia. Brisbane City is bordered by the Brisbane River and has a triangular shape. Filled with skyscrapers, retail establishments and bountiful eateries, the central business district offers something to keep visitors of all types busy. This being said, with the Brisbane River and numerous beaches within close proximity, water-based activities are just as prominent in the busy area. To accommodate travellers, the holiday rental market is vast and includes everything from one-bedroom apartments to sprawling single-family homes.

Spend the Day Shopping

Those hoping to indulge in some retail therapy are spoiled for choice when staying in the Brisbane Central Business District. There are well-over 1,000 retail establishments to choose from, with options ranging from clothing stores to fine home goods. Adelaide Street is a popular destination for those looking for stores with high style. Beauty retailers, shoe shops and even clothing stores are set on this street, along with many other options. Albert Street is home to a number of independent retailers, as well as a shopping centre filled with international options. While Anzac Square Arcade is another option with many popular establishments, there are also smaller groupings of stores throughout the central business district.

Eating Out in Brisbane’s CBD

The dining scene in Brisbane City is just as vibrant as the shopping community, with eateries of all types lining the streets. Of course, for practical reasons, there are large groupings of delicious restaurants near the shopping districts. Smaller cafes and high-end restaurants come together to give diners plenty of options. Enjoy high tea in one of the tea rooms scattered throughout town, or choose one of the many pubs or bars for a cold adult beverage. At supper time, there are few places with more ambiance than the restaurants that dot the riverside. While in the CBD, ask around to find some hidden gems that are set just below the street level.

A Home for Music Lovers

Live music events are just one of the best things about Brisbane City. Though a great place to relax and people watch, King George Square doubles as a fantastic open-air venue for concerts. The square has a convenient location that is adjacent to some of the central business district's most notable structures. With the beautiful surroundings of the botanical gardens, Riverstage is a premier place to attend a concert in Brisbane’s Central Business District. The outdoor venue holds up to 9,500 guests and attracts local and international acts alike. Additionally, each year, the CBD plays host to The City Sounds festival - a free live music event. The events are held at the Queen Street Mall, Post Office Square, and Reddacliff Place and are the perfect place for visitors to learn more about the local talent.

Arts and Culture in Brisbane’s CBD

There is a thriving community of artists in Brisbane’s CBD, and there are many galleries highlighting their varying forms of art. For an in-depth look at Aboriginal art, visit the Aboriginal Fine Art Gallery; this collection is the largest and most diverse in all of Queensland. In addition to places to view completed artworks, there are even galleries that allow visitors to watch the creative process. If performing arts are more your speed, check out the Brisbane Arts Theatre, which has been presenting performances since the 1930s. Soak up even more culture by taking a guided tour through the streets of Brisbane City. There are a number of significant buildings that have helped pave the history of Queensland’s capital.

Travel to Brisbane Central Business District

There is never a bad time to visit Brisbane City, with the area's subtropical climate and average temperature than ranges between 22 and 30 C. As an added bonus, getting to your holiday destination could not be easier, with an international airport located right in Brisbane and a train service stopping at the busiest CBD stations.

Great Apartment in a Great Location!

5 of 5
This is apartment is very comfortable with all of the amenity of your own home! Very nicely decorated and the bed is super comfy! Lots of dishes, 2 coffee makers and a supply of nice tea bags! You could cook a feast here! The meet & greet was super easy and nice to have parking in the basement below. Only a 5 minute walk to the FREE ferry and surrounded by some very good restaurants. What’s not to like! THANKS!!
