Broadbeach Waters, which is located approximately 25km north of the Queensland-New South Wales border on the Australian East Coast, is situated directly in the heart of the prestigious Gold Coast region. This area is world renowned for its sun, beaches and surf, with the famous Surfers Paradise beach located within walking distance of most holiday rentals in the Broadbeach Waters region.
The fact that beaches on the Gold Coast are generally fully patrolled also makes Broadbeach Waters a popular holiday destination for families, and as a result the area offers both family and pet friendly accommodation in addition to luxurious holiday houses.
Things to See and Do in and Around Broadbeach Waters
The most popular holiday activities in Broad beach Waters generally involve the beach, whether it’s Mermaid Beach, Broad Beach, or Surfers Paradise. The stress-free traveller can spend their time hanging out with the locals at Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club, whilst enjoying an icy cold beer and some fresh seafood; or just lie on the beach and work on their tan. The more adventurous holiday maker in comparison has the alternative of hitting the waves for some surfing.
If for some reason surfing is not extreme enough, the region surrounding Broadbeach Waters is also home to kiteboarding, skydiving and jet boating enthusiasts, who are happy to give international travellers the adrenaline rush of their lives, before dropping them back at their holiday accommodation completely exhausted.
Non- Beach Activities available in Broadbeach Waters
Although many of the activities offered in the Broadbeach Waters area are based at the beach, there is much more to this area than just surfing and tanning. A short drive north of Broadbeach Waters, along the Pacific Motorway, one can find three of the largest, most exciting theme parks in Australia: Dreamworld, Movieworld, and Wet ‘n’ Wild. A fourth theme park, Seaworld, is also located only 10kms north of Broadbeach Waters at Main Beach.
The Seaworld theme park differs from the other three parks, in that it incorporates a resort, boasting numerous different accommodation options. It is however, often cheaper and more convenient for holiday makers to locate self-contained accommodation in the Broadbeach area, owing to the fact that theme park passes are often included in Gold Coast holiday deals.
In addition to theme parks, the region around Broadbeach Waters offers amazing shopping prospects, such as the enormous Pacific Fair Shopping Centre for seasoned shoppers, or Harbour Town, a large brand direct outlet shopping centre, for the bargain hunter. If shopping is not of interest however don’t despair, the Gold Coast Convention Centre, which is located almost directly in Broadbeach Waters, hosts a variety of different events from food and wine festivals to sporting events, and is within walking distance of most holiday rentals in the area.
Ideal Climate for Visitors
Broadbeach Waters like most of Southern Queensland experiences sub-tropical weather conditions, which means the area generally receives a great deal of rain, and becomes quite warm, during summer months (November and January). The climate over the remainder of the year however, is quite mild, with average daily temperatures of approximately 25°C. Although many holiday makers steer clear of the Broadbeach Waters region during the summer months due to the weather, the holiday apartments in the area are well equipped to deal with the heat, boasting air-conditioning and swimming pools as standard. Accommodation may also be significantly cheaper during this period as it’s considered to be the ‘off season’ for international travellers.
