Coochiemudio Island Accommodation

Located approximately 33 kilometres from the Brisbane airport, Coochiemudio Island is a great place to take a holiday trip. It is a small island in Moreton Bay in Queensland, Australia. It features sandy beaches and an exposed red rock cliff on the south-west side of the island. Mangroves also grow in abundance on the island and there is wildlife galore. In order to get to the island, travellers need to take a ferry, but it's not inconvenient because the ferries run every half hour from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm. There is no need for a car once on Coochiemudio Island, either. The houses usually feature a Queenslander style or are a traditional beach shack. Some of the more modern houses have brick and tile.

Recreational Activities

Coochiemudio is home to dozens of wildlife species. There are possums, emus, kangaroos, and eve koalas. Travellers will see wildlife every day they are on the island. Plus, since there is such a small population on Coochiemudio Island, most of the area has been untouched, so there is a beautiful landscape to enjoy. Travellers can spend time enjoying the beach or going sailing. They can also go to the BMX track, play a round of golf, or participate in cricket, croquet, and tennis while on Coochiemudio Island. Another popular activity while on the island is to go fishing. Most people catch Cod, Flounder, Whiting, and Snapper.

Shopping And Dining On Coochiemudi Island

Travellers can save a little money by staying in Coochiemudio Island holiday rentals instead of staying in a Brisbane hotel and taking a ferry to the island each day. Plus, there are sufficient shopping and dining opportunities that there is no reason to even leave the island once getting there. Travellers can try a variety of cuisines at Coochie Island Beach Resort Restaurant. Nearby there is also a corner store that was built by Douglas Sivyer and Shirley Sivyer.

Highly recommend this place to everyone. Very modern, clean and the best views. Waking up to these views was distressing and calming. The owners and the care takers were a delight to deal with. Nothing negative with the whole experience.

Spacious and clean

4 of 5
We have just returned from our holiday and wanted to ensure we left an accurate review of redlands retreat. The property was very spacious and considering we had 3 couples and 2 children it never felt crampt or noisy. The presentation upon arrival was excellent and the owners met us and gave us some helpful information and even some milk and bread which was most welcome after our long drive. The downstairs comprises of two lounges with the one at the rear of the property having air conditioning which was needed in the afternoons and early evenings on some days. The kitchen is large with American style fridge freezer. It was well equipped although a wok and sharp knife would be a good addition in the future. We made full use of the bbq provided and enjoyed eating out on the patio which overlooked the pool and gardens. The laundry is fantastic and having the two pull out laundry bins was great as we all had some washing to do during our stay. Upstairs there was one large master, a queen and two twin bedrooms all neatly presented with towels on beds and bars of soap. The main bathroom had a bath, vanity and shower (the pressure wasn't great but that's probably just my personal preference). A bin in the main bathroom would be a welcome addition. The upstairs and all bedrooms were air conditioned and featured fan. We did make use of the air conditioning. The swimming pool was amazing and beautifully cool for such warm days and surprisingly deep. I think it would be ashame to not have a pool at this property! Listed on items online were a DVD player and hair dryer both of which we did not find anywhere. I didn't mind not finding a DVD player as we were mostly busy anyway socialising with our family but thought I'd mention it. Also there was no hair dryer, I think putting one in the main bath would be a good idea. Aside from these small items the owners went above and beyond by providing and installing stair gates prior to our arrival and were very welcoming. The communication throughout was excellent and allowing our dog to stay was fantastic. The outside space provided for Banjo was good with grassy areas to the back and side. We were plesently surprised to find a dog friendly park and play park for the kids within a five minute walk from the property and there was an excellent off leash park and beach front play park within a 5 minute drive called GJ walter Park, which we spent an evening at and had dinner overlooking the sea. We had a great time and I woul
