Things to See and Do
Swim and Surf
Denhmas Beach is one of 3 southern coast New South Wales beaches that are recognised as safe swimming and surfing beaches. Most of the beaches are patrolled by life guards during the summer months, when there is an increase in visitors to maintain the safety on the beachfront. Body boarding, body surfing and board surfing are very popular on the beaches, and if you can’t surf, there is no better place to learn while on holiday.
The idyllic holiday paradise of Denhams Beach is a haven for an abundance of dolphin pods that live and frolic in the bay. Lie back on the beachfront from your lounger or from the relaxing deck at your holiday rental and watch how the playful creatures leap about at play. Get out into the water in the early morning and join the dolphins in the waves, swim among them in their natural habitat, and experience a soulful journey with these magical creatures.
Famous for its bush track trails, the nature walks in the region are easy enough to be enjoyed by the entire family. One of the nearby beaches, Wimbie Beach has bushwalking trails that go all the way up to the headland and right up to and through the National Park, reaching the private forestry sanctuary of Lilli Pilli. This is perfect for those who want more than just a gentle meander through nature.
The beauty about the Bateman Bay area of Denhams Beach is that there are few bright city light attractions to distract visitors from the wonderful scenery, and perfect surroundings, making this the perfect place to kick back and do as little as possible. The holiday accommodation in Dehhams Beach is kitted out to the T. Some of the luxury holiday villas are complete with all the modern bells and whistles you can dream of. All you need to do is get up and pour the coffee, soak up the sun on a lounger on the deck of your holiday house and get lost in a good book, without the demands and hectic pace of modern city life.
For those holiday makers who really want to get into the swing of doing as little as possible including not doing much cooking, there are some really great restaurants and take away cafes in town. There is an excellent butcher where you can get fresh cuts of meat for the BBQ, or take away pizza & pasta and Thai options as well. The restaurants serve fresh seafood and there is an excellent bakery as well; the perfect way to start your day with a fresh cup of coffee and hot cinnamon bun straight out of the oven.
The cool oceanic climate of the Bateman Bay area brings warm sunny summers and cool but sunny winter days, with mild winter evenings. The summer months of October to April are summer rainfall months, and visitors can expect thunderstorms to occur during November and March. The cool sea breeze keeps the seasons mild with summer temperatures averaging from 26 C down to 21 C at night and winter averaging 17 C during the day, down to 7 C at night. All the holiday accommodation is well equipped to handle the seasons, and will keep visitors comfortable throughout the year. Because the seasons are so mild, it is the perfect holiday destination all year round.
