Things to see and do
Clyde River Berry Farm
This pristine working berry farm has been operating for more than 30 years. Visitors have a chance to take the entire family out for the day to the glorious farm set alongside the banks of the stunning Clyde River. Visitors can meander through the farm and pick all sorts of delicious berries straight from the trees and bushes to take home or back to their holiday rental in Depot Beach.
Choose between marionberries, youngberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, plums and boysenberries, to name but a few. Peaches and nectarines straight from the farm are also available for sale, pre-picked during the harvest.
Relax and enjoy homemade jams, fruit sauces, blueberry plants and homemade fruit ice creams from the farm shop. To round off a perfect day in the countryside, go for a refreshing cool swim in the Shallow Crossing before you make your way back to your holiday cottage.
Birdland Animal Park
This delightful park is a real treat for everybody and will put a smile on even the grumpiest teenager’s face. With more than 50 species of native birds, reptiles and animals, the park offers a rare chance to get up close and personal with the wildlife, thanks to the hands-on approach for visitors. The animals are used to visitors and if you are too shy to approach them, don’t worry, they will make their way to you for a bite to eat or a gentle pat.
The rear and release program is home to many baby wombats, who just love to be cuddled and petted. Take a picnic or enjoy a BBQ with the family while the younger children get rid of some of their energy in the play area.
A little further away, some 14km outside of Batemans Bay, you will find the unique and fascinating Eucalypt trail. A gentle educational walk takes visitors on a journey through a trail of more than 11 different varieties of eucalyptus trees. Experienced guides take visitors through the trail and help them identify the trees by looking at the flowers and fruits.
After a day out in nature, visitors can relax and enjoy a picnic in the beautiful outdoors, before making their way back to their holiday accommodation.
Fern Gully Winery
This small boutique winery has been producing award winning private label wine such as Noble Dessert, Shiraz, Chambourcin and Vintage port from their vineyards since 1998.
The working winery offers tasting, cellar sales and winery tours. The tour is an interesting look at the process of wine making and the equipment involved in the production. The tour is led by the winemaker himself, Max, whom is only more than happy to have interested visitors share his love of wine making.
The temperate climate of Depot Beach makes it the perfect holiday destination, no matter what season you would like to make a trip to your holiday cottage on the coast. Autumn arrives in the month of April and the winter months continue until September, the average day time temperature during winter is around 18C, going down to a cool 5 C at night. The summer months bring balmy summer days of 24C which cool off to 15C at night.
Getting there from the UK
The nearest airport to Depot Bay is Moruya Airport which is some 53km outside of Depot Beach. Connecting flights are available from Sydney International Airport which is served by major UK airports and the world’s biggest airlines. Visitors to the area can pick up a hired car at the airport and self-drive down to the beach, crossing through the picturesque Batemans Bay on the coast.
