Edithburgh Accommodation

Edithburgh is a town resting at the southeastern edge of Yorke Peninsula roughly 50 kilometres west of Adelaide over Gulf St. Vincent or 226 kilometres away via road. Sitting in the shadow of dozens of wind turbines, Edithburgh holiday rentals allow you to live the small town lifestyle the way a local does without making a permanent commitment, in the same way you might test drive a vehicle. With lots of things to do in the area but no pressure to do any of them, Edithburgh is a great place to while away some or have an adventure, completely at your whim.

Why Edithburgh?

While it is far enough from the major cities to be a small drive, in Edithburgh you're close enough to have every amenity you could want while enjoying the small town lifestyle. Regardless of what you decide to do, your proximity to larger and more urban areas only serves to enhance the simple joy of being embedded in this cozy town.

Things To See And Do

Right outside of Edithburgh is the Wattle Point Wind Farm, which only opened in 2005. Formerly the largest wind farm in Australia, this area is among the continent's windiest places. The towers are a total of 110 metres tall, and the sight of all 55 of them is impressive indeed.

You might also visit the Anglican church Saint Mary the Virgin, which recently started the joint Port Giles-Edithburgh Mission to Seafarers. Using the Flying Angel Centre, the Church provides a place for seafaring individuals to play some table tennis or billiards, lounge about and speak to their families via the computers there.

While Edithburgh doesn't have its own bakery, there is the Garage Diner for your culinary cravings. Producing their own croissants and signature Frog Cakes made from a sponge cake with jam and a cream topping.

After you've gotten a bite to eat and seen the more subdued sights, you might enjoy taking the Investigator Shipwreck Trail. This Trail leads around the entire coast of Yorke Peninsula. From your Yorke and Lower North accommodation, you can see the sites where 26 known vessels have crashed between 1849 and 1982. With several dive sites that are well travelled, some wrecks have never actually been found.

Sweet Local Attractions

Not far from Edithburgh is Port Vincent. With calm and clear water and plenty of fun things to do in it, there is no mystery why this slightly larger town is extremely popular. Dolphins come right into the bay, you can catch some Flathead, Bream or Whiting or go for a kayaking trip. You can also check out some of the beautiful cottages in the area.

What's Great About Rentals?

When you stay in a rental home in the Yorke and Lower North area, you can live the way a local does. With all of the amenities nearby while maintaining the small town vibe, you can relax into a great place that's far nicer for your money than you could get at a hotel. You can even pretend you live here all the time.
