Seaside Getaway In Peaceful Halifax

Halifax is a quaint little town on the Coral Sea coastline in Queensland. The village is just minutes from both Lucinda and Taylors Beach. The city of Ingham is also just 20 minutes away. To the south, the city of Townsville is an hour and a half down the coast.

Townsville Accommodation In Halifax

Halifax accommodation tends to be warm and inviting, with modest, tasteful furnishings and comfortable amenities. Most Halifax holiday rentals are just minutes from the beach as well as the village's shops and restaurants. Many rentals are also close to nearby boat ramps with plenty of room to park your boat, so be sure to bring it along on holiday. Some holiday homes are even pet friendly, so you can bring your pooch as well!

Get Out On The Water

You'll find the best surfing in the area at Forrest Beach to the south. Forrest is also a great spot for sea or estuary fishing, so bring your tackle box. Nearby Taylors Beach was originally established as a fishing village and it remains an excellent fishing and crabbing spot to this day. You'll find boat ramps and play areas at both beaches as well.

As if that wasn't enough spectacular fishing for one region, Lucinda and the Hinchinbrook Channel is another terrific spot to catch local species like Mangrove Jack, barramundi, fingermark, and Queensland mud crabs.

Adventure In The Great Outdoors

If you tire of the beaches, the area still has plenty of outdoor attractions to keep you busy. Take a day trip to Wallaman Falls, the tallest single-drop waterfall in the country. You'll find Wallaman within Girringun National Park, home of countless local animal and plant species. Girringun also boasts stunning views of Wallaman Falls, the gorge, and the surrounding valley.

Another splendid day trip is a boat ride out to Orpheus Island National Park. You can either take a boat via the Taylors Beach boat ramp or book a charter at Lucinda. Here you'll find beautiful fringing reefs and 1300 hectares of stunning, unspoilt wildlife. Be on the lookout for molten rock in the landscape: the island is composed of these volcanic rocks. If you're looking to see some of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area while in Queensland, Orpheus Island is a must-do on your itinerary.

Jourama Falls, within the Paluma Range National Park, is an easy drive from Halifax. You'll find plenty of hiking trails, picnic areas, and outdoor barbeques. Visitors can also swim in the park's Waterview Creek, a perfect way to cool off after a long day of hiking in the hotter seasons.

Whether you're longing to see the reefs or just spend a weekend by the sea, you're sure to find what you're looking for in Halifax.
