It’s a prize

Hallidays Point is on the Mid North Coast and between the Manning Valley and the Great Lakes. Its proximity to magnificent beaches has helped the area develop as a prime tourist destination but it has retained an unspoiled feel, thanks to its remarkably clean beaches – Black Head Beach in particular has recently won back-to-back titles as the friendliest and cleanest beach in the Keep Australia Beautiful competition.

Holiday accommodation in Hallidays Point and the immediate area includes self-contained accommodation, apartments, houses and villas, providing super options for all travellers, regardless of budget or the size of their party.

The beaches are naturally the biggest attractions for visitors to Hallidays Point. Black Head Beach is considered the best locally for swimmers and sunbathing but close to the sand are some amazing nature trails and discoveries. On both Black Head and Red Head beaches are headlands featuring littoral rainforest, with opportunities for nature lovers to see the natural flora and fauna of the region in all its glory.

Deep-sea fishing charters depart daily, offering the opportunity to land some of the big game fish that populate these waters. If that ‘big one’ gets away there’s consolation in taking the smaller fish back for a barbie at your Hallidays Point holiday rental.

Away from the coastline there is an 18-hole championship golf course at Tallwoods Village that will test the skills of any golfer. And for families, the Big Buzz Funpark features waterslides, swimming pools, quad bikes and karting.

The area around Hallidays Point is ideally positioned for exploring more of the Mid North Coast. To the south are the twin towns of Tuncurry and Forster, joined by a distinctive humpback bridge, and also known for their excellent beaches. Forster is considered one of the best places for locally produced arts and crafts, too.

Tuncurry sits on the estuary of the Wallamba River that leads to Wallis Lake, the cleanest estuarine lake system in the state and where a boat trip will reveal the amazing wildlife here, including sea eagles, cormorants, egrets and terns. There is also great recreational fishing both on the lake and river.

For more nature in the raw, head for Wingham Brush Nature Reserve, northwest of Taree, where the endangered grey-headed flying fox is just one of the amazing creatures protected here.

Also near Taree is Ellenborough Falls, a waterfall with a single drop of 200m that is both a spectacular sight and sound to experience. A day trip here is possible from your holiday accommodation in Hallidays Point.

Soak up the sun

Hallidays Point enjoys the subtropical climate of the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Its summers are hot – expect an average daily temperature around 30°C – while spring is warm and winters are mild, cool and dry. Visitors who are not used to the searing Australian heat should ensure they do cover up well with sunscreen when visiting during the hottest months. Many holiday rentals in the Hallidays Point area will offer air conditioning, which will alleviate the worst of the night time heat.

Getting there

The quickest way for UK travellers to reach the Mid North Coast is from Sydney – there are direct daily flights from London’s Heathrow Airport to the city’s Kingsford Smith Airport. Depending on your budget, car rental may be the easiest way to reach Hallidays Point. However, there are also regular coach services from Sydney to the main towns on the coast from where local connections can be made to reach your holiday accommodation in Hallidays Point.
