Apart from the many stunning and spotless beaches, this bustling holiday destination is full of fascinating activities for the entire family. The world famous Australian Zoo in the Beerwah/Glass House Mountains is a must see for everybody coming through the Caloundra region.
And while you are there, the national park at the Glass House Mountains is an astonishing outdoor adventure all on its own, hike the tracks through the eucalyptus forests and pine plantations and climb to the highest lookouts where you will be able to see over the rugged volcanic peaks and get a unique glimpse of Kings Beach from above.

Back on the beach you can really get into the island style of things, join a surfing class or launch out of a plane and land right on the beach sand. The main beach is the best for family picnics and as it is in walking distance from your holiday rental, there will be plenty of hands to carry blankets and picnic baskets. You are able to BBQ on the beach, using the facilities provided all along the beach. Families can relax and take some time out, as there is plenty of swimming, snorkelling and rock pool exploration opportunities for the kids.
Queensland has a sub-tropical climate, but because Kings Beach is situated right on the coastline, the gentle sea breeze and temperate sea water have an impact in keeping the air temperatures from soaring in the mid summer heat. Expect summer temperatures of 30 C and winter temperatures around 19C. High humidity is a constant companion, so even though Queensland claims the season to be winter, you could easily continue wearing your thin summer wardrobe. The heaviest rains come in the heart of summer, around December/ January, and the humidity is often over 80%, but all the holiday accommodation, whether it is a self-catered holiday rental or a beachfront holiday villa, will be properly set up to accommodate the soaring sub-tropical temperatures.
