Kurnell accommodation

Kurnell holds great historical significance as one of the most important sites of European settlement, for it was here where Captain Cook first landed and made Kurnell accommodation his personal choice for the next eight days. Kurnell's located on the southern headland at the entrance to Botany Bay, just 22 kilometres south of the centre of Sydney.

Kurnell Is Sydney's Secret Prime Holiday Destination

From your Kurnell holiday rentals you have all the following activities available to keep you and your family, or friends busy each day of your holidays:

Sand dune four-wheel driving and picnicking

Horse riding in an absolutely gorgeous environment

Bushwalking among native fauna and flora

Fishing and boating on tranquil waters

Scuba diving to explore life beneath the water's surface

Windsurfing in and out from the beautiful coastline

Sailing through historic Botany Bay

Surfing the exposed beaches to the Pacific ocean

It's even more special when you add Botany Bay National Park, with its high vertical sandstone cliffs dominating the coastline on one side of the headland and the Towra Point Nature Reserve on the other that's home to 200 different species of birds. All this is available only 20 minutes from Sydney airport and 30 minutes from the city centre itself.

Scenic Botany Bay National Park

The coastal scenery of Botany Bay National Park at Kurnell is the best you'll see anywhere in Australia owing to the dominating sandstone cliffs that reach so high out of the water. On top of that, much of the park consists of open woodland and low heath. The heath wildflowers give spectacular displays of colour in spring and summer. You'll also meet honeyeaters and brightly coloured parrots as you walk along. Captain Cooks landing happened on the north-east of the park which he named Sutherland Point after a crew member of that name who died during their stay at Kurnell.

The Sand Hills Of Kurnell

These sand hills are of extreme natural, scientific, cultural and historical significance but have been badly treated over the years with sand mining doing a lot of damage. They are quite massive however and for this reason much remains and these are now preserved. They are where the early Europeans made contact with the Gweagal Aboriginals who lived in the area at that time. There is much evidence of their presence available in the form of middens and carvings that can still be seen. Fortunately as the dunes move, or drift, many of the original sites are covered and therefore preserved forever.

Prime Sydney Accommodation For Holidaymakers

Kurnell, with its safe beaches for swimming, as well as its easy bushwalking and BBQ areas, makes it a wonderful holiday destination where the kids can run and play safely all day. It's a place where you can get the most value from your roomy Kurnell holiday rental while soaking in some of Australia's most important history. A better choice than that of crowding into a packed hotel room, Kurnell accommodation puts you in a place where you can holiday in peace as it remains Sydney's best kept secret.

Idyllic

5 of 5
We spent a relaxing weekend at the House on the Rock with our two teenagers. The house is in a private, idyllic location with 270 degree views across the water and access steps to the nearest beach. We bush-walked and explored during the day and happily spent nights in. The house is spotless and has a very well equipped kitchen, super-comfy beds and quality linen/bath towels. Our host, Nav, kindly checked in with us via email on arrival and again on leaving. We will be back.

Really comfortable and close to public transport

4 of 5
This lovely place was really a retreat after each day of wandering around Sydney and the Blue Mountains. The beds were very, very comfortable, and all amenities were high standard. Frequent public transport very close. Make sure you get an Opal card! (Some buses allow single trip purchase on board). If driving, you need to be back by 6.30pm, as the street fills with cars by this time, until next morning. Non-smokers will be delighted, but if you do smoke, read the property info carefully, as there is no smoking outside either. My son and I had a great time in Sydney and Coogee Beach Retreat was a great base for us - we drove from Melbourne to get his Learner's hours up!
