Little Douglas Accommodation

Little Douglas is a small town that began as a fishing settlement. Today it functions as a launching point for crab, line and oyster fishing, and the bay adjacent to the town works well for swimming and fishing. The type of Eyre accommodation you can find here is perfect for getting away from it all and feeling like a local. Surrounded by cerulean waters and boasting a safe beach, Little Douglas is a great place for relaxing.

Why Little Douglas?

Little Douglas is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of city life to afford you a relaxing time in the Little Douglas holiday rentals, but still possesses all of the modern conveniences. Being so close to beaches and having so much fresh seafood available makes the entire trip very worth it. From the base of your rental, you can see and do all kinds of relaxing things in this area without feeling like a tourist.

Great Things To See And Do?

One of the best things to do in Little Douglas is to enjoy the bay. If you love a good swim or fishing, this is the ideal place to do so. If you like a bit more energy in your holiday, you might want to try the area around Coffin Bay and the national park attached to it.

The Best Local Attractions

If you love to surf, you should consider trying the nearby Almonta and Gunyah beaches. The local reef system going from Point Avoid to Golden Island and Price Island provides you with plenty to see if you enjoy scuba diving and seeing the underwater wildlife. You can also go camping in the Yangie Bay area. You might also enjoy seeing the local creatures, such as the white bellied sea eagles or the ospreys. There are also several varieties of petrels and albatrosses. Overall, this is considered an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International because of the sheer varieties of birds on display here.

You might also want to check out the Koppio Museum. With its historic cottage and hut made out of pine logs, vintage tractors and several other historic buildings, this National Trust museum is a fun look at how things used to be. Another interesting piece of history is the Mt Dutton Bay Woolshed, where you can see shearing, fishing and farming implements from the old days.

Why Rentals?

With an Eyre accommodation like a rental home, you can live like a local and see the entire area from a unique perspective. These types of rentals let you go all over the area and break up your holiday into a series of day trips. Each day, you can do something completely new and different, as if you were just taking a little time off. In a sense, living in Little Douglas holiday rentals is like taking a bunch of little holidays inside your main one. You can see and do all kinds of fun things and really get to know the area this way.

Perfect setting to get away from it

5 of 5
My wife and I were doing a driving holiday around SA staying overnight at various places. We booked Vandys Shack for three nights as we decided to base ourselves on the Southern Eyre Peninsula there. The setting was incredible. Waking up to the view was a daily highlight. So peaceful there, and easy driving distance to Coffin Bay (for oysters at 1802 Oyster Bar!). It is so cosy and comfortable. I know it can sleep at least 7, but it's also perfect for a couple. Had everything you could want. Really comfortable bed. I don't want to come over all 'The Castle' but you just enjoy the serenity. Lying on the sun lounger winding down at the end of the day....just wonderful. The information provided and contact from Greg was very much appreciated also. Couldn't have been more helpful. Can't recommend the place more highly. Thanks Greg.
