Holiday Accommodation in Minnie Water, NSW, Australia

Tucked away between the Solitary Island Marine Reserve and the Yuraygir National Park, is the secluded little holiday town of Minnie Water in New South Wales, Australia. With lots of family holiday accommodation on and around the picturesque coast line, it makes it one of the best places to take your family on holiday.

For those wanting to get away from a busy city life and back into the arms of Mother Nature, then Minnie Water offers the best of everything. Lots of outdoor adventures to be had for the entire family and holiday rentals right on the beach, ensures that there is plenty for everybody to do.

Things to See and Do

Boats and Fishing

For all of those fishing enthusiasts who like to get out to the open sea, then you have come to the right place. Launch a boat from the nearby Wooli Harbour, and if you didn’t bring your own, you can charter one from one of the fishing charter companies in the area, look out for all the hire and cost information in your holiday rental. Deep sea diving tours are also taken from here.

Solitary Island Nature Reserve

This beautiful nature reserve offers visitors and locals, well just anyone who is interested in exploring underwater, and spending time with the local marine life, a superb location. The stunning array of gentle coral reefs, spectacular colours and rich abundance of sea life, make the reserve one of the best diving spots along the coast. On land, the reserve is also a haven for the important birdlife, such as the crested tern, the sooty oyster catcher and the wedgetailed shearwater, to name but a few.

Yuraygir National Park

Winding along more than 60km of rugged coastline, starting in the North at Angourie stretching to Red Rock in the south, the Yuragir showcases some of the best offerings Mother Nature has provided. Walk along the intertwined hiking paths; there are two main trails, the Angophora Grove Walk and the Rocky Point Walk. Explore the bush and check out the huge array of flora and fauna. More than 120 species of wildflower have been catalogued around Minnie water, and when the Christmas Bells or Flannel Flowers are in full bloom, it is quite a sight. Sunbathe on a remote and quiet beach, surf the gentle waves or just pack a picnic at your holiday rental and head for a chill out for the day along the coat.

If you follow the trail to Rocky Point, the rock pools offers fun for all ages. Join the kids in finding coral, sea urchins, starfish, shells and sponges amidst the tidal pools and rock crevices.

Minnie Lagoon is another great coastal location. It’s popular for swimming, sunbathing and boating. There’s steep road down to the lagoon (signposted at the Tree of Knowledge) but the effort is worth it.

Camping

If you are and your family enjoy holiday accommodation in the very heart of nature, isolated from the tourist areas and the busy cities, then leave your holiday rental in favour of couple of nights under canvas at the Minnie Water and Illaroo Campsite. Totally secluded, private swimming beaches, safe walking trails, private boat launching areas, shady camping areas, and the views beat any seen out of any posh holiday rental in one of the surrounding towns.

Climate

The summer rainfall area of Minnie Water offers a sublime climate perfect for booking a holiday rental all year round. The summer months bring hot daytime temperatures of around 36C, cooling off to a warm 24 C in the evening, which make every evening perfect to sit outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The winter months are very mild and average 26 C during the day, down to 15 C at night, so if you and your family wanted to camp instead of hiring a self-catering apartment during the winter, the weather will still be perfect.

Getting there from the UK

Grafton airport is the closest airport terminal to Minnie Water, some 26 km away from the coastal town. Connecting flights into Grafton can be made from either Sydney or Brisbane, both being serviced by major UK airports. Drive right through to Minnie Water, pick up some supplies and reach your holiday home and be swimming by dusk.

loved the location but I did not realise it was a unit type property until too late, still thoroughly enjoyed it regardless with comfortable furnishing great view and ocean breeze we will be back. The whole family had fun at the blue and green pools close by and fishing straight off the rocks was perfect.
