We had been to Tasmania a few times and this time we wanted to spend 5 nights in the Bruny Island/ Hobart / Huon Valley area
The accomodation is like a large flat below the owners house. It has sweeping views over the marina where the Bruny Is ferry docks. And views over to the island.
In the evening lots of wallabies and possums come and feed out the front of your deck. There are a couple of bush walks you can do by heading down into the bush then turning left or right. The pub is about 1.5km away but unless you want muddy feet due to a creek you have to cross, you can't fully walk along the shoreline. Easier to drive.
There are limited shopping options in Kettering- we stocked up at the Woollies in Kingston about 20 min drive away.
The accomodation is what you would expect- clean, comfortable beds, decent hot water shower, all the cooking stuff you need, big fridge, wood BBQ. (No washing machine)
The hosts Pamela and Jamie are nice people and I would highly recommend you go out sailing with them. Look up the web site "sailtas" .
It's not that far into Hobart, maybe 45min by hire car. The ferry to Bruny Island costs $38 return (2 people +car) and leaves every 30 mins until about 7pm. It's definitely worth going over for a look.
Fantastic location of a cottage in a picture postcard setting. Where else would you want to be whilst enjoying a glass of wine, reading a book or maybe fishing in such a quiet waterfront location. Eggs and Bacon Bay is the place to be.
