Sydney: An Explorer's Playground

Also known as the Harbour City, Sydney is set on the southeast coast of Australia and is the capital of New South Wales. Sydney is the oldest and most populous city in all of Australia. With the prime location right on the Tasman Sea, Sydney offers a great mix of nature, history, culture and luxury. Because Sydney covers such a vast area, there are a number of rental options available to visitors, including beachfront villas, private houses in the suburbs and luxurious apartments in the heart of the city.

Outdoor Activities Abound in Sydney

There is no shortage of green space in Sydney. Visit one of the many parks within the city, such as Hyde Park or the Royal Botanical Gardens, or take a day trip out to the Centennial Parklands. Take in the scenery and do not forget your boots, as there are many hiking and walking trails. Undertake the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk to watch the waves crash as you get your daily exercise, or take a short drive out to Royal National Park to immerse yourself in greenery. Cycling, rollerblading and horseback riding are all popular outdoor activities in Sydney.

A Beach Bum's Paradise

Thanks to the comfortable climate throughout the year and the agreeable temperatures even in the cooler months, the beaches of Sydney are never empty. Some of the more popular tourist beaches in Sydney include Bondi Beach, with its golden sand and turquoise waters, and Manly Beach, with its beautiful coastal walk and ferry. These beaches are always abuzz with activity, including surfing, of course. If relaxation in a tranquil location is more your speed, check out Clovelly or Coogee Beaches. No matter where you choose to sink your feet into the sand, there are many coastal dining establishments to enjoy and places to grab a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise.

No Shortage of Shopping Opportunities

Featuring local fashion and well-known labels, the shopping climate in Sydney is one of a kind. Venture over to Sydney's city centre to explore Westfield Sydney, a high-end shopping establishment that is home to big names such as Zara and Gap. Over at the historic Queen Victoria Building and the Strand Arcade, you have access to the hottest local and international stores. There are various shopping districts scattered throughout Sydney, with one of the most popular destinations being Oxford Street, as it offers quirky boutique stores, street fashion and more. Other hotspots for retail therapy include the Glenmore Road intersection, Military Road and Crown Street.

Expand Your Cultural Horizons

No holiday in Sydney is complete without a trip to the historic Sydney Opera House. Guided tours of the iconic building are available to visitors, and 2-hour backstage tours are also offered; pick the tour that most suits your needs, or simply enjoy one of the many performances that take place at the venue. Sydney is home to numerous museums, including the Australian National Maritime Museum, the Australian Museum, the Mint Museum and more. Stroll through the downtown area to see the many public art installations and to fully enjoy the local art scene of Sydney. If you wish to fully immerse yourself in Australian culture, schedule your holiday around one of the many festivals and events in Sydney, such as the annual Sydney Festival, which is a world-class affair filled with dancing, music, art, food and more.

Fun for the Whole Family

While there are plenty of activities and destinations in Sydney that cater to the adult crowd, child-friendly attractions also abound. Spend the day exploring the Taronga Zoo, which houses an impressive array of wildlife and is a popular destination for families with young children, as is the WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, with its interactive displays and walk-through habitats. There are also many beautiful parks with children's playground equipment throughout Sydney. For days where it just isn’t comfortable to be outdoors, check out one of the world's largest screens at the Sydney IMAX theatre or the Powerhouse Museum with its interesting and ever-changing exhibits.

Travelling to Sydney

During the summer months, Sydney boasts a warm climate that is ideal for water-based activities. Travelling to Sydney is easy, thanks to the Sydney Airport, which is connected to all major cities throughout the world. Once in Sydney, taxis, buses and other forms of public transit are available so you can always access your local destinations with ease.

The unit was a little worn and could use some updating but the cleanliness made up for this. Location was excellent, walked everywhere. Issue was with obtaining the key, last minute email from host that no one was meeting us and we had to walk a few blocks away to get the key and then we were on our own with no instructions on the unit, elevator, building, etc. all after a 16 hour plane ride.

The apartment was exactly as described. The location is perfect for a visitor to Sydney. Close to Hyde Park and an easy two stops on the train to Circular Key and the Harbour attractions. It is also an easy direct line to the domestic and international airports with a short 15 minutes train ride. Inna was an excellent and responsive host, answering all questions quickly and completely. The only downside was a WiFi that was rather slow. Good experience and we would recommend this to anyone in Sydney for business or pleasure.
