Our three-generation family of five spent ten nights here. It was delightful from start to finish. Luz and Claudio are excellent, responsive hosts. They arranged for someone to cook (for an additional fee, payable directly to the cook) and a driver (same.) The internet service is the best available in the area, although as expected in a rural region, not always up to the demands of five people. The finca was exactly as depicted, a couple of miles away from Calarca. There's a very good restaurant across the road (that provided take-out for a last minute family gathering) and a small shop selling drinks and snacks 150 meters away. It's on the main highway, so there is some road noise, but nothing terribly disturbing. A neighbor's cat has adopted the house, so she came to visit every morning and afternoon, which was a delight for our young adults missing their pets at home. The kitchen is well appointed. If you plan to cook, be sure to bring your must-have spices; the local markets are well stocked but may not have every ingredient you are used to. The water from the sink is potable and delicious (Grandpa left long ago; when he was last in the region, this was not true.) There's much to see and do in the Quindio department; we were able to fill our 10 days with ease. It rained often but that was truly part of the charm. Temperatures ranged from 60F at night to 80F during the day. There is no heat/air conditioning, so bring something warm if you chill easily. Highly recommended; we will return!
