Finding a perfect holiday home in Trogir, Croatia

As one of the oldest cities found on the Croatian coast, Trogir boasts an impressive concentration of historical attractions, such as palaces and churches, all encircled by the remarkable city walls. Due to its well preserved architecture and cultural significance, the Old city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Nestled between the verdant hills and the crystalline blue sea, Trogir accommodation is in a charming city with many opportunities for great holiday activities.

Top Trogir activities & attractions

Summers are hot here, but pebbly or sandy, crowded or hidden from curious eyes, perfect beaches are close to holiday accommodation in Trogir. The most visited Trogir beach is the Pantan beach. Sheltered by fragrant pine trees, this pebbly beach is ideal for families with children. There is a beach bar and as well as swimming and sunbathing, there’s scuba-diving and surfing.

Thanks to a modern marina, many fans of sailing take holiday villas in Trogir to enjoy the clear blue waters and numerous islands. The view from the water of the walled city is pretty spectacular too.

The city with such historical heritage is a monument in its entirety. Wherever you head from your Trogir holiday home, you will find traces to its turbulent history. There are some sights that you simply can’t miss including the stunning St. Lawrence Cathedral with its amazing portal, the medieval Cipiko Palace and, of course, the ancient city walls. Although the whole city is like a museum, a real treasure of Trogir history, art and culture can be found in the Garagnino – Fanfagna complex of palaces, which houses the town museum.

The Old town is filled with charming cafes, bars and restaurants, and at festival time the city hosts plenty of cultural events in Trogir. Be sure to attend some of the folklore performances, classical music concerts or festivals reviving the ancient times.

Exploring surroundings

Beyond Trogir there are even more beaches waiting for you. Maybe you will find the one on the Makarska Riviera, which is easily reachable from Trogir holiday homes. There are several towns and villages well worth a visit, and Promajna is one of them.

A day trip to the splendid city of Split is a must for Trogir visitors. Croatia’s second largest city, ancient Split is a blend of fabulous historical attractions and the finest shops and restaurants. The lovely palm-lined waterfront is the place for a cup of coffee and an hour or two, just watching the world go by in front of spectacular coastal views.

The Trogir climate

Blessed with the Mediterranean climate, Trogir enjoys more than 2,700 sunshine hours a year, distributed over the warm summers, pleasant springs and autumns, and mild winters. During the summer, air temperatures rise above 30 degrees. Rental villas with pool in Trogir are a bonus if you want to avoid crowded beaches.

Getting there

To get to Trogir it would be the best to choose London, UK, as your first stop. Once there, there are a few options available. One is to fly to Zagreb, the Croatian capital, which is located about 400 km away. Hire a car and hit the highway to your holiday accommodation in Trogir. If you are visiting during summer, you can book a cheap flight from London to Zadar or Split Airport, both located within an hour of Trogir.

The apartment was a bit hard to find by car, but well located within easy walking distance of the old city. It was well equipped, clean and comfortable with a lovely terrace overlooking the harbor. Goran and Nives were wonderful hosts, providing touring suggestions, some interesting background on Croatia and even sharing their family recipe for ravioli, the traditional Croatian filled pastry. They sent us off with samples of the pastry for our travels. We would definitely recommend the apartment for other travelers to Trogir.
