Enjoying Scenic Views from a Holiday Rental in Sigatoka, Fiji

Sigatoka is a town located in the southernmost part of the Fijian Island, Viti Levu. Holiday makers visit this part of Fiji to explore its culture, history and nature. A holiday rental here is just perfect for exploring and relaxing.

Things to do

You should not miss one extremely important thing while in Sigatoka, and that is to visit the Sigatoka Sand Dunes. The place is one of the main tourist attractions of Fiji. These dunes were designated as the first National Park of Fiji in the year 1989. They have an amazingly rich blend of ecological, geographical and cultural features. Fruit Bats, Fiji Goshawks and the Fiji Bush Warbler are a few rare sightings of this place. Visitors would be surprised to spot shards of Lapita pottery, stone tools and sometimes even human remains, around the dunes and on the beachfront. These remains and ancient tools have been left uncovered by the natural processes. Previous archaeological excavations have brought some amazing remains into light signaling further discoveries with time.

Sigatoka nurtures some of the best beaches on the whole of Viti Levu. These beaches offer tourists a perfect place for relaxation and having fun. One can choose to spend a lazy afternoon here or try out some sports such as fishing, sailing, water skiing, surfing, swimming and windsurfing. Some of the other activities that you can enjoy here include horse riding , cycling, walking, bird watching and mountain biking.

Places to Visit

A day trip to Nadi is an absolute must if you are willing to leave the comforts of your holiday rental. Nadi is the third largest city on the Fiji Islands and is a magnificent place bustling with a number of tourist attractions. The first place that ought to be on your itinerary is the Garden of The Sleeping Giant. This garden was designed at the first place to house a collection of Raymond Burr’s orchids. Visitors now flock this place to see a variety of colorful orchids (almost 2000 of them) including rare Fijian orchids. One must also visit the holy Sri Suva Subramaniya Swami Temple, a shrine of Hindu deity, Lord Murugan.

Weather

The climate in Sigatoka is same all throughout the year and the good thing is that it usually remains at 27 degree Celsius during the day with the mercury dipping down by a few degrees at night. Humidity at the place depends on the time of the year. It is best to visit the place in the months of May and November when humidity is at its least. With such lovely weather, Sigatoka is a great place to rent holiday accommodation all year round.

Getting There

For reaching Sigatoka one can fly to Nadi International Airport (NAN), a place located merely 100 kilometers north of the town. In Australia you can fly direct to NAN from Sydney, Mebourne and Perth. Direct flights from New Zealand to NAN depart from Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch.

fantastic location. Superb water access. Kayaks, snorkel gear, nice touch. But with a few maintenance issues during our stay. Spa tub did not work in the pool. Both sinks in master bedroom leaked onto the floor from underneath. But the true gem of this property is the staff. Jerry, Joe, and Momma are now our new family members and we'll treasure them FOREVER. Momma gives one of the best massages I've ever had, and ask Joe to make you his curry! They'll all warm your heart and fill your spirit!

We have just returned from the most amazing time at Villa Mokusiga, we chose to get married here (ceremony on the beach, reception on the deck around the pool) and it was better than we could have hoped for - private and in a beautiful location. Not only is the villa and beach beautiful (pics do not do it justice), but Shaan & his family helped us so much with all of the planning and arrangements for the wedding day - they even helped us arrange transport and excursions for the hens/ bucks parties. Everything was managed superbly and the day went perfectly as did the rest of our stay at the villa. We had the Fijian logo as the wedding meal which was delicious, we had a lot of other meals during our stay which were all superb. The villa staff were exceptional and so friendly. We loved the welcome song when we all arrived too - such nice welcome, and we had tears in our eyes when it was time to leave, we really were made to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble for the villa hosts to arrange for us. We were even given some of the big chinese lanterns by Shaan and family to let off the night of the wedding, such a lovely and thoughtful surprise. We highly recommend Villa Mokusiga, we will return soon ourselves hopefully. A HUGE thank you again to Shaan, Kate, Francis, Joe & staff for all of your hard work and efforts and for giving us a perfect wedding day we will never forget. Thank you! Sal & Troy

                                  Exceptional

For those looking to stay in paradise while feeling like you are a part of the family then you must stay here. Francis, Kate, Joe and the entire LomaniWai team are absolutely amazing from the time of booking to our day of departure. We travelled as a family (7 adults + 2 babies) and nothing was too difficult for these caring and down to earth people. We were made to feel more than welcome and to be honest it felt like we were a part of the family during our week in the house. We were fortunate enough to have the all-inclusive package and in fact were surprised with how over and above the team went to make us feel special. The house is beyond amazing with everything you could ask for and being positioned on the Coral Coast means you wake us to the sound of the waves each morning. Delicious restaurant style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, snorkelling, a guided tour by Joe to the local waterfall, massages, fishing charters, horse riding on the beach right from the house, a traditional Lovo dinner where we learnt all about the local Fijian way of cooking and babysitting were just some of the items that the team helped us book and experience. We were there to celebrate a couple of birthday’s and Joe didn’t hesitate in organising cakes (complimentary) while organising the whole team to come and sing happy birthday (even getting a couple of the guys in on their days off!). Our two 11 month old’s loved spending time with Joe and the team and were made to feel special the whole time. We can’t recommend LomaniWai enough and have already started to plan our next trip back! Thanks for an amazing week in Fiji team LomaniWai!
