Read what one of our travellers had to say about South Island!
We decided to plan a trip to the South Island of New Zealand. We researched and gathered as much information as we could. We set a budget and our holiday plans were slowly taking shape. The passport process was commenced. Each group was to hire a camper and we starting mapping out our route and listing all the must see and do things while we were there. Flights booked and paid.
The communication between us and the excitement was increasing. What to pack for the weather, the driving times between locations fitting in the tourist must see spots.
Finally the time had arrived and we were at the airport. This was to be our first holiday outside of Australia. We landed in Christchurch and headed off to collect our campers. Our adventures about to begin, the scenery was breathtaking.
The people were friendly and helpful. Throughout our trip, we met fellow travellers and swapped stories and places that we thought were worth visiting and others that did not meet expectations. We got lost and had to backtrack a few times only to find a special place and create a terrific memory.
We started with so many plans and finished the trip with not all places on our list visited. But our whole time away was full of fun, laughter, and so many memories. With a promise to go again and finish off our list of things to do and see on the South Island, we headed home after three weeks. I recommend this type of holiday/break for anyone that often thinks it is all too hard to do, we had an absolute terrific time and are hoping to head back that way real soon....
