An Escape To Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is a well known holiday destination that lies 700 km North of Bangkok along the banks of the Ping River. With 2 million foreign tourists visiting Chiang Mai every year, the place certainly offers potential for a quality vacation, and can be enjoyed more comprehensively from a well-appointed holiday rental. Chiang Mai with approximately 170,000 inhabitants is a medium sized city that offers several sites of historical importance and organized treks to the forests and hills.

Places to See:

Wat Phrathetat Doi Suthep is the most famous Buddhist temple in the area. This temple dates back to 750 years and is situated on a rise that provides a spectacular view of the city on a clear day.

Wat Umong is a forest cave, located to the west of the city near Chiang Mai University. The site is known for its image of the fasting Buddha before he was enlightened.

Wan Suan Dok is yet another temple that is a learning center for monks. The enormous main hall is open on the sides. If you visit Chiang Mai during February, you can enjoy the flower festival from the comfort of your holiday rental .There are floral floats and dance shows for the public. The Tribal and Chiang Mai museum highlight the relics of the ancient rulers of the city.

Things to Do:

Chiang Mai is surrounded by beautiful national parks like the Doi Inthanon National Park that plays host to the highest mountain peak in Thailand. After booking yourself into a comfortable holiday rental, you can enjoy the Elephant Park which is roughly an hour’s drive north of Chiang Mai. There are several treks organized for holidaymakers as well as elephant back rides in the scenic forests and hills near Chiang Mai. Other activities include Zip-line tours and canopy walks. Chiang Mai has a thriving nightlife which includes bars, discotheques and live music bars for holidaymakers to enjoy. You can return to the comfort of your holiday rental after a night out. There are several American fast food joints, coffee houses, and Galare center for local music and dance in Chiang Mai.

Climate:

Chiang Mai lies at a slight elevation which prevents it from being as oppressively hot as other destinations in Thailand. Day time temperatures swing from warm to hot while nights are cool. The rainy season lasts between the months of May and September, and it is then when the region receives the heaviest rainfall.

How To Get To Chiang Mai:

The most popular method of getting to Chiang Mai is by flying into Bangkok International airport and then flying to Chiang Mai by Thai Airways. Chartered flights and Thai airways do fly into Chiang Mai directly as well. From here, you can hire a car and proceed to your holiday rental to enjoy your vacation in Chiang Mai.

If you seek to get away from the daily grind of life to somewhere where you can relax and rejuvenate your tired body and soul, a comfortable rental accommodation in Chiang Mai Chiang is a perfect haven.

We loved the place! The Tree Boutique is a 20 minute walk from the night bazaar and old Chiang Mai. We walked just about everywhere in the 10 days we stayed. Our 2 bedroom was large and spacious, the kitchen came with everything we needed to cook with (my wife went to one of the nearby cooking classes while we were there), and there is an air con in every room. I only take away a point for cleanliness because the place was rather dusty, had some ants (not a big deal, we get them at home too), and the bathroom had cobwebs on the ceiling. Bee, the apartment manager, was helpful getting us situated and was sure we knew how everything in the apartment worked. She provided a map and a list of all the nearby attractions, as well as a number to call if we wanted to book any of the tours. She also provided us with her cell phone number and said we could call her any time day or night if we needed help with translation or directions or any situation that might come up.

Apartment is clean and spacious with nice view of the mountain. Host is quick to respond and send help at the earliest possible time when in one of the nights, there was a blackout in the apartment. It may be helpful to place some anti-slip mats in the bathroom where the tiles can get very slippery when wet.
