What To Expect At The Canberra Balloon Festival
The Canberra Balloon Festival is an event filled with eye-catching colours, beautiful sights and a once in a lifetime experience. Balloon pilots start inflating their balloons at sunrise and by mid-day they take flight. Spectators can stand by and watch as the balloons are filled to the brick and take flight, or wander around Canberra and look to the skies for the beautiful spectacular balloons.
The Canberra Balloon Festival is ranked one of the top four ballooning events in the entire world. Balloon enthusiasts from all over the globe gather to witness this spectacular event. This is one of the few ballooning events that allow pilots to travel extremely close to popular landmarks and government buildings.
In the past, not only will balloon pilots from all over Australia gather to fly their gorgeous colour-filled balloons, but so will pilots from all over the globe. Balloons from the United States, Canada and Europe have travelled to take part in this event.
The Canberra Balloon Festival Details
The Canberra Balloon Festival is a free event. All spectators are able to watch as the pilots fill the balloons and the balloons launch free of charge. The 2015 Canberra Balloon Festival takes place between 7-15 March.
The balloon spectacular starts every morning at 6:00 a.m. The launch site for the balloons is the Old Parliament House. Spectators can watch from Old Parliament House or catch glimpse of the balloons anywhere between Parkes Place East and Parkes Place West.
Ballooning is an extremely weather sensitive activity. The events of the Canberra Balloon Festival are subject to change if the weather is not safe enough to fly and spectators can visit the Canberra Connect website for daily event details.
So Much to See and Do at The Canberra Balloon Festival
Watching the beautiful balloons float through the sky isn't the only activity available to spectators at the Canberra Balloon Festival. Each day during the nine day ballooning event live musical performances will be held between 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Come and watch as the balloons inflate and launch while experiencing the wonderful talent of some of Australia's best up-and-coming musical artists.
