What to Expect
Started in 1997, the Byron Bay Writers Festival has transformed into one of Australia's largest gatherings of aspiring and professional writers. Each year over 45,000 individuals attend this gathering and work together to help each other develop the skills and knowledge that is needed to succeed in the literary world.
This three-day festival features dozens of activities and events that allow festival attendees to work on developing their writing skills. Writers gather together at lunches, lectures, and workshops to share ideas and tips that will help inspire aspiring and professional writers.
Other events at the Byron Bay Writers Festival include lectures from guest speakers. Guest speakers from all over the world are invited to this three-day writing conference to share their experiences as professional writers. In the past guest speakers have included popular Australian writers, well-known publicists, and successful freelance journalists.
Where Is the Byron Bay Writers Festival Held?
The Byron Bay Writers Festival is held at North Byron Events. North Byron Events can be found in the Arts & Industrial Estate at the end of Bayshore Drive.
There are several ways to get to the Byron Bay Writers Festival. Festival attendees can park at Shirley St. Apartments Inn or the Byron Bay Bus Terminal and take the shuttle to the festival. There is an additional charge for taking the shuttle. Festival attendees can also drive to the festival, but parking is limited and based on a first-come first-serve basis. A $5 charge is required for parking onsite.
The 2014 Byron Bay Writers Festival dates are to be August 1st - 3rd, but aspiring and professional writers who wish to attend must purchase a ticket to the event. Tickets for the 2014 Byron Bay Writers Festival usually go on sale sometime in April.
Individuals wishing to attend all three days of the event may purchase an Early Bird 3 Day Pass.
Some events may require additional ticket purchases and advance reservations. Many events will sell out early, so it is important to book in advance. A list of the events and lectures that will require additional tickets and advance reservations is available on the official website.
Where to Stay
Festival attendees who wish to stay centrally located to the Byron Bay Writers Festival may want to consider staying in a holiday rental. There are numerous holiday rentals that will place festival attendees within minutes to the writers' festival.
