Australian PGA Championship
Held annually since 1905, the Australian PGA Championship tournament is a popular golf competition that has featured hundreds of excellent players throughout the years. Since 2002, the tournament has been featured at the Hyatt Regency Coolum course in Queensland at the Palmer Coolum Resort. This year, for the first time, the event will be held at RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.
This year's event will take place from Thursday, 11th December through Sunday, 14th December. Practice sessions should take place in the days prior to the event, and spectators are usually free to observe these sessions at no cost. In past years gates have opened at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The gates will close about one half hour after play finishes. If you are looking to attend, make sure you book your accommodation in advance.
The Australian PGA Championship offers tickets at a very reasonable price, and they are available for pre-purchase and are also sold at the gate. There is usually an additional $5 fee for gate purchases. The price is very affordable at $25 for adult tickets and $20 for concession tickets. Those who qualify for concession ticket prices include full-time Australian students with a valid ID, Australian health care card holders and senior citizens, and Australian pensioners.
A season pass costs only $75 for an adult ticket and $60 for a concession ticket, and these are good for all four days of the competition. When with an adult, any child under the age of 16 gets in free, along with any carer accompanying a disabled individual. It should be noted as well that parking costs $5.
There are many different rules that people who attend the event must follow for safety and security reasons. Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages or recording devices to the tournament, and all mobile phones must be put on silent. However, food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed. Radios, signs and posters, firearms, weapons, bicycles, and pets are all prohibited. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at the Championship Village.
