Gympie Music Muster
Celebrating music has never been more enjoyable than at the Gympie Music Muster. Since 1982, music lovers have flocked to Gympie Muster to enjoy many genres of music, with country music being the main emphasis.
Over four days in 2014, visitors will enjoy nearly 10 different music genres surrounded by natural beauty found only in Queensland. This year, country artists will showcase their artistry alongside musicians and artists that create folk, Australian-traditional, blues, bluegrass, Americana, alt-country, and country dance music, as well as, some bush poetry and Aussie classic rock.
Where Is Gympie Music Muster?
Located just a short drive north of Brisbane and only 40 minutes from Gympie, this music festival occurs in the gorgeous Amamoor Creek State Forest Park. The park itself is worth a visit any time with its 50-hectares of perfectly maintained grounds including towering forests of iron bark and blue gum trees and meandering creeks.
Getting to Amamoor Creek is an easy drive from Gympie, Brisbane, or the Sunshine Coast. Once inside the park, a scenic drive over a well-maintained road guides guests to festival grounds. Festival grounds consist of 10 different venues that host varying artists and events. The main stage, surrounded by a towering forest canopy, provides shade and shelter during all types of weather. Other venues rest beneath large marquees for viewer entertainment and easy viewing.
More Than Music
Over the years, Gympie Music Muster has become more than music celebration. After Queensland suffered a record-breaking drought in 1993, event coordinators created the Rural Aid Appeal which raises funds each year through merchandise and compilation CDs from the Muster. Every year these funds are given to local charities. Recent beneficiaries include Leukaemia Foundation, Youth Suicide Prevention, Diabetes Australia, Melanoma Foundation, and Transplant Australia. While dancing and grooving to some fabulous live music, patrons are also contributing to local charity.
