World's Greatest Pub Fest
Drink for a cause during the 2015 World’s Greatest Pub Fest in Maryborough, Hervey Bay. While dates are yet to be confirmed, the pub fest offers participants the chance to crawl for a cause in support of the event’s official charity, Coast Guard Sandy Straits. Searching for accommodations during this year’s pub crawl? Consider a holiday rental for better amenities, lots of privacy and affordable costs.
This year’s fest is a pub crawl but it’s also so much more. Costumes are a main feature of this yearly event, meaning event-goers paint the town with their festive themed attire. The pub crawl starts on Wharf Street, with ample opportunities to enjoy the costumes of each team.
Walk or bus between local venues during the fest, enjoying the atmosphere of each pub and a lot of camaraderie along the way. You can purchase an official crawl card at the fest’s outset for the chance to win some great prizes. A portion of sales from each card is donated to the Coast Guard Sandy Straits. Ensure your card is stamped at each bar you visit and, when the card is full, simply drop it in the barrel for your chance to win. Prizes will also be awarded throughout the day for the best costumes.
Touring the Region
After you’ve toured the historic pubs of Maryborough and have recuperated from the fun of pub fest, spend a day or two touring the Hervey Bay region’s sites. Whether you hope to go golfing, spend a day shopping, or visit the area’s historical sites, there is much to do and see in Maryborough and the surrounding areas.
Get away from the hustle and bustle by visiting Fay Smith Wetlands, one of the area’s last remaining wetlands. The Anzac park and Ululah Lagoon are also must-visit outdoor attractions. Savor the artwork of professional artists at the Alpha31 Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden. Other cultural attractions include the Maryborough Military and Colonial Museum as well as The Bond Store Museum.
Explore the Hinterland
Venture out of Maryborough for a day to explore the Fraser Coast Hinterland. From galleries and craft shops to historic buildings and winding rivers, the Hinterland towns and villages offer plenty to fill your holiday. Venture to the Mary River for a day of fishing, canoeing and bird watching. Enjoy a day in the country mountain biking, horse riding or bush walking.
You will, no doubt, want to sleep for hours after the entertaining day you’ll enjoy at this year’s pub fest. Sleep in peace and privacy in a holiday rental. When you wake, lots of amenities will be waiting in the rental and many rentals also feature full kitchens, allowing you to cook all holiday meals rather than dining out. Attending the pub crawl with a team? Most holiday rentals offer ample space for several guests, meaning you won’t need to spend more on multiple hotel rooms.
Plan a trip to the World's Greatest Pub Fest and turn it into a full holiday in Maryborough.
