Clipsal 500

Travellers start your engines and create some lasting holiday memories by attending one of Australia's largest domestic motor sports event – The Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. This four day event features numerous races, rock concerts, an avenue of vendors, and dozens of activities that will keep everyone in the family entertained for hours.

What To Expect

The Clipsal 500 in Adelaide is one of Australia's largest domestic motor sports events. Every year, this racing event attracts over 300,000 people who gather together to watch as the V8 Supercars take to the streets of Adelaide to roar their way around the street circuit for championship points.

The race takes place on a series of streets in the east end of Adelaide. These streets form a shorted version of what is known as the Adelaide Street Circuit, which is a 3.2 kilometre street race track. The final two days of the event revolve around the V8 Supercars racing around the street circuit.

The Clipsal 500 is more than just a simple street racing event. It consists of numerous activities and events that revolve around the racing theme. The Australian Defence Force hosts several fly-overs where festival attendees can view the awe-inspiring aircrafts in action. Other highlighted attractions of the Clipsal 500 include the Armorall Extreme Top 50 Car Show, the Beachwear Parades and the Drag Car Demonstrations.

There are several events and attractions that are designed just for the younger motor sports fan. The AFL Footy Fest features the 18 mascots from the AFL. These mascots take part in an impromptu and fun game of footy that children of all ages will enjoy.

The Porsche Kids Driving School is another major attraction. Children between the ages of 5-9 learn the proper rules of the road and how to drive safely. They then take the knowledge that is learned and apply it on a specially designed race track where they can impress their family with what they know.

The Concerts

The V8 Supercar racing isn't the only main attraction of the Clipsal 500; the rock concerts are too. Every evening the Clipsal 500 hosts several well-known rock bands on its concert stage.
