Phillip Island Moto GP
Everyone loves the idea of speed and danger and it is at the Phillip Island MotoGP that most Australians will get a full dose of it. This year, on 17th - 19th October, the 2014 MotoGP takes place. Riders come from all over the world to compete and this is the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with their heroes. Even those new to the sport will find something to thrill them, and this particular island has one of the most unique circuits on the planet. Spectacular views and many different vantage points make this a truly memorable experience for all who attend.
Accommodation in Melbourne
The first thing to do is to book up accommodation in holiday homes or serviced apartments etc well before this particular event takes place. Many will opt to stay in holiday accommodation on Phillip Island itself so that they can take advantage of the ocean, beaches and the penguins that live here!
For those who need VIP hospitality, there is a good selection of accommodation in Melbourne available along with Moto GP ticket packages. This includes daily coach return tickets to and from the accommodation to the circuit itself. Accommodation and transfers only packages are also available at the Grand Prix Travel Office.
There is a wide range of ticket options available, best booked while ensuring that holiday accommodation is reserved to avoid disappointment; this can be in the VIP section, the Grandstand or just along the track somewhere. General admission is payable, but it does guarantee that the ticket holder gets a great experience over that weekend.
A Little History
The Australian Moto Grand Prix has been going for many years but it is the defending world champion, Casey Stoner, who is the centre of attention this year. He has won the competition five years in a row and people are hoping that this year will be number six. In fact, this is called ‘the greatest show on two wheels’, so anyone who likes the roar of engines should book up right now! Expect to see and hear bikes from Kawasaki, Honda and BMW amongst others. This is certainly the spot to be for avid motorbike enthusiasts for sure.
As is usual at events like this, disabled visitors are well catered for. Not only will they find the appropriate accommodation on Phillip Island or nearby, they will also find a designated grandstand, coach services from accommodation in Melbourne, shuttle services and accessible campground sites too.
Accommodation in Melbourne is usually available all the time but those who want to stay nearer the event can use the accommodation in the Highside Campground which also has toilets and showers located nearby even for the disabled. Campground tickets are bought from the Grand Prix Travel Office.
Those who want a bird’s eye view of the event can get tickets for the Pit Roof Village VIP area at both the northern and southern end of the circuit where all the action takes place.
