Falls Festival 2015
If you love the modern arts and music scene, The Falls Music & Arts Festival is certain to be one of the highlights of your summer schedule. This fixture event is host to more than 50 acts on stage and is all about hosting a huge gathering of friends to have a great time on New Year's. Since its inception as Rock Above the Falls, this event has grown into being more than just a get-together. It has evolved into being a celebration of reveling together in great music.
Held on a farm near the ocean at Marion Bay and Maria Island, The Falls Music & Arts Festival could not have a more gorgeous natural backdrop. Even the topography goes along wonderfully with this event, as the entire ground slopes at the perfect angle from which to see the stage. This event even works alongside partners that hope to keep it all going in the greenest and cleanest manner possible.
Where Is The Falls Music & Arts Festival Held?
There are two locations: Lorne, Victoria and Marion Bay. While both locations offer their own unique scenery and some bands can only make it to one of the locations, both carry the same great time and feeling this Festival has been known for since 1993. With the Marion Bay location, there is spectacularly beautiful beach access right alongside the music and the interaction with others.
The location in Lorne, Victoria is located nearby in the Otway Rainforest, set along the Great Ocean Road. Boasting every bit as much beauty and natural wonder as the Marion Bay location, the Lorne location also features dozens of great acts and more fellowship than you would think could happen in a long weekend.
What Should You Expect?
You should expect a ton of great music in some of the most gorgeous surroundings any concert series on earth ever gets to enjoy. The performers list hasn't been released yet, but last year there are over 60 performers, including The Flaming Lips, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Hilltop Hoods and Maximo Park. With stand-up comedy, music from nearly every modern genre you can imagine, and a lot of like-minded people, this is one of the best possible ways to ring in the new year.
Staying in the Area the Best Way Possible
There are tons of ways to stay in style for the The Falls Music & Arts Festival. If you want to do this the old-fashioned way, you could always just bring your tent and sleeping bag, and let the calm after the night's concerts lull you into a nocturnal nirvana. If you're keener on the modern amenities and seeing the area in a more civilized fashion, you might consider staying in a holiday rental—Lorne has plenty to choose from. The Festival is a great place to be, but you may not want to stay for every act. Not every artist appeals to every attendee.
When you stay in a holiday rental, you can sleep in a nice bed in a beautiful home and pretend you live in the area. Just like actually being a local person, you might even find that there are tons of things to do above and beyond the Festival. You might even want to stay awhile longer and just take in the ambiance of these pristine areas that have yet to be ravaged by the tourist crowd. You can even stay in a better appointed, larger space than that of a hotel room, which just adds to the luxury of your trip.
